Promoting intellectual property cooperation and innovation

Cooperation activities of the World Intellectual Property Organization with the National Office of Intellectual Property.

The focus of the visit is the meeting between the Minister of Science and Technology and the Director General of WIPO. The two sides will discuss global trends in intellectual property and innovation, the major orientations of the Ministry of Science and Technology on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation, and discuss a number of proposals to promote intellectual property and innovation activities in Vietnam in the coming time.

Under the witness of the Minister of Science and Technology, the National Office of Intellectual Property and WIPO will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of intellectual property, an agreement covering all areas of cooperation in intellectual property, from policy and law development on intellectual property to raising awareness, training human resources, supporting businesses and improving capacity for national intellectual property agencies.

This Memorandum of Understanding will open a new chapter of cooperation between Vietnam and WIPO in the field of intellectual property, especially in the world trend of shifting from protection to commercialization of intellectual property rights, while also affirming the guiding and leading role of the Ministry of Science and Technology in the field of intellectual property in the new period.

During the visit, the WIPO Director General will attend the workshop Introducing the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2025. The workshop will provide the latest information on the GII 2025 Report and Vietnam's results, methodological adjustments, the significance of the index, innovation trends and Vietnam's innovation prospects in the coming years.

An important highlight of the program is the visit and working session of the WIPO Director General with the leaders and staff of the Intellectual Property Office. At the working session, the Intellectual Property Office will share some outstanding achievements in cooperation with WIPO in the past time and development orientation for the coming period.

At the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, the Director General of WIPO will interact and discuss with the young generation of Vietnam with the topic: "WIPO and the journey of creating an intellectual property ecosystem to promote innovation for the young generation of Vietnam".

In the same series of events, leaders of WIPO and the Ministry of Science and Technology will witness the launching ceremony of the Intellectual Property and Innovation Cooperation Alliance with cooperation contents such as: “ Localize” WIPO’s e-learning training program and widely deploy it in Vietnam; organize WIPO Summer School in Vietnam annually; build and develop brands, manage intangible assets, finance/valuate intellectual property; invite businesses in Vietnam’s startup ecosystem to participate; visit the exhibition space for innovative products of the young generation of Vietnam.

In addition, within the framework of the visit, the WIPO Director General will have a courtesy meeting with Government leaders; work with Viettel Group, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to promote bilateral cooperation on intellectual property with ministries and sectors in particular and cooperative relations with Vietnam in general.
