Promote cooperation with Korean enterprises

On June 8, Khanh Hoa province leaders had a working session with the Vietnam - Korea Business and Investment Association (VKBIA). Attending the meeting were Mr. Nghiem Xuan Thanh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Le Huu Hoang - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee. On the VKBIA side, there were Mr. Tran Hai Linh - Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairman of the VKBIA Association; Jung Dong Hyeok - Member of the Gyeonggi Provincial Parliamentarian; John Park - Vice Chairman of the VKBIA Association, Senior Advisor of the One World Impact Partners Global Investment Fund; Ms. Kim SeonMi - Vice Chairman of the VKBIA Association. Also attending were leaders of departments, branches, sectors and enterprises of Vietnam - Korea.

According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, in 2024, the total import-export turnover between Khanh Hoa and Korea reached 574.5 million USD, accounting for 16.6% of the total import-export turnover of the whole province. Of which, the export turnover of goods of Khanh Hoa province's enterprises to the Korean market reached 67.1 million USD, an increase of 26.6% over the same period in 2023 and accounting for 3.3% of the total export turnover of goods of the whole province. Maintaining this growth momentum, in the first 4 months of 2025, the export turnover with Korea reached 22.4 million USD. Seafood is the largest export item with a proportion of more than 68% of the total export turnover to the Korean market. In addition to seafood, Khanh Hoa also exports to the Korean market items such as: Coffee, garment products, machinery and equipment and some other items.

Mr. Chau Ngo Anh Nhan - Director of the Department of Finance affirmed that Korea is an important partner providing Khanh Hoa with products such as: Machinery and equipment, iron and steel for the shipbuilding industry, raw materials for seafood production, textiles, tobacco materials, fabrics and other goods. In 2024, the import turnover from the Korean market to the province reached 507.4 million USD, accounting for up to 36% of the total import turnover of the whole province. In the first 4 months of 2025, the import turnover reached 179.7 million USD. This import activity plays a role in providing essential inputs for the province's key manufacturing industries, especially shipbuilding and seafood processing, while creating a solid foundation for promoting deeper industrial cooperation in the future.

Regarding tourism , in 2024, Khanh Hoa welcomed more than 4.7 million international visitors, an increase of 98.76% compared to 2023, of which Korean visitors reached more than 2.4 million, accounting for more than 50%. The sharp increase in the number of Korean visitors to Khanh Hoa has strongly promoted the development of the province's tourism industry, not only creating jobs for local people but also attracting investment in infrastructure and high-end tourism services. Regarding investment attraction, the whole province has attracted 4.3 billion USD in foreign direct investment; of which Korean FDI capital accounts for about 8% with 27 projects, focusing on areas such as: Shipbuilding industry, manufacturing equipment and components for the shipbuilding industry.

Focus on tourism and high technology

At the working session, Mr. Tran Hai Linh and members of the VKBIA delegation expressed their impression of the socio-economic situation and development potential of Khanh Hoa province and wished to develop cooperative relations with the province in the fields of: Logistics, tourism, high-tech industry, clean industry, green production, renewable energy... The Chairman of VKBIA affirmed that he would connect Korean enterprises to learn, cooperate and invest in Khanh Hoa; at the same time, he hoped to receive support from the provincial government when Korean enterprises come to invest in the province, especially building a number of mechanisms and policies to support Korean enterprises when merging the two provinces of Khanh Hoa - Ninh Thuan; simplifying administrative procedures, creating an open investment and business environment; building and upgrading more modern logistics and digital infrastructure; having vocational training programs, specialized skills, and Korean language for the local workforce to meet the needs of enterprises...

Meanwhile, VKBIA Vice President John Park said that currently, Korean enterprises are very interested in learning about investing in data centers, artificial intelligence (AI), and high-speed railways in Khanh Hoa. These are areas in which Korean enterprises have experience. In addition, although the tourism sector has achieved many encouraging results, information about Nha Trang tourism has not been widely disseminated and promoted in Korea. Many Korean enterprises want to invest in this field in Khanh Hoa but do not have enough information. Therefore, in the coming time, Khanh Hoa needs to provide more information about this field to enterprises.

Speaking at the meeting, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Huu Hoang affirmed that this working program is a great opportunity for the two sides to exchange and discuss investment opportunities and new cooperation potentials between Khanh Hoa and Korean enterprises. The proposals of Korean enterprises will be recorded and resolved by specialized agencies. Khanh Hoa province is committed to creating the most favorable conditions, from infrastructure, preferential policies, to support from functional agencies, to ensure that investment projects of Korean enterprises achieve the best results. In particular, in the coming time, Khanh Hoa will focus on areas with high potential for cooperation with Korea such as: Information technology, software production, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, food processing industry, seaport investment, logistics, renewable energy and sustainable tourism development.

On this occasion, the Provincial Young Entrepreneurs Association and VKBIA signed a memorandum of understanding to promote and introduce commercial products of members of both sides; mobilize resources to effectively implement cooperation, trade exchange, and create opportunities for businesses to cooperate with each other. Representatives of Pacific University and VKBIA signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of training and supplying high-quality labor resources. These are the premises, preparing for long-term cooperation and investment of Korean enterprises.
