On the morning of November 21, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) coordinated with the People's Committee of Hai Phong City to organize a press conference to inform about the event Vietnam Creative Startup Festival (TECHFEST) 2024.
Vietnam Creative Startup Day is an annual event hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology , in coordination with ministries, branches, localities, and socio-political organizations. After 9 years of organization, TECHFEST Vietnam has become an important event, attracting the attention of policy-making agencies, managers, corporations, enterprises, creative startup support organizations, domestic and international investment funds, etc., thereby connecting domestic and international resources for the Vietnamese creative startup ecosystem, contributing to affirming Vietnam's position on the global creative startup map.
In 2024, the Ministry of Science and Technology will coordinate with the People's Committee of Hai Phong City to organize TECHFEST Vietnam with the spirit of "Joining hands to develop the Vietnamese innovative startup ecosystem" to introduce, inspire and honor outstanding achievements of innovative startup activities in businesses and the whole society; summarize and evaluate the 10-year journey of forming the innovative startup ecosystem and orient the development of the ecosystem in the new period; Create momentum for economic and social development of Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular from innovative startup activities; Promote the ability to attract technology startups, technology human resources, investment funds, domestic and international experts; Introduce to the domestic and international innovative startup community about the dynamic, developing, pioneering Hai Phong city in promoting innovative startups; Create a friendly, favorable environment, promote and support the formation and development of businesses with the ability to grow rapidly based on the exploitation of intellectual property, technology and new business models.
Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Hoang Minh emphasized that with the attention and close direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, the cooperation of ministries, branches, localities, socio-political organizations and the efforts of the creative startup community, over the past time, Vietnam's creative startup ecosystem has developed strongly, creating a new generation of businesses operating based on intellectual property and capable of accessing the global market.
In 2024, Vietnam's innovative startup ecosystem ranked 56th in Startup Blink's Global Startup Ecosystem Index, with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City among the top 200 global startup cities.
Since 2017, Vietnam's Global Innovation Index (GII) has continuously improved, rising from 59th place (in 2016) to 44th place in 2024. Vietnam's GII 2024 results have 3 leading indicators in the world, including for the first time the Creative Goods Export Index.
Venture capital in Vietnam tends to develop well, as shown by the index of Number of Venture Capital Deals improving from 77th in 2022 to 50th in 2024, and the index of Number of Deals Receiving Venture Capital from 54th in 2021 to 44th in 2024.
TECHFEST Vietnam was attended by leaders of the Party and State, representatives of ministries, departments, branches and localities; representatives of leaders of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, departments and branches of Hai Phong city; representatives of diplomatic agencies, international organizations in Vietnam; representatives of leaders of corporations, general companies, research institutes, universities; representatives of organizations in the science and technology ecosystem, investment funds, investors, accompanying consultants; science and technology enterprises; speakers, technology experts, domestic and international innovation experts; domestic and international press agencies.
The series of events takes place over 3 days (from November 26-28, 2024) in Hai Phong city with many activities including: TECHFEST 2024 opening ceremony, High-level policy dialogue forum, Exhibition of science and technology products/services, In-depth seminars on developing science and technology ecosystem, Investment connection, Vietnam Science and Technology Talent Search Competition...
TECHFEST Vietnam 2024 is an opportunity for agencies, organizations and individuals to meet with senior leaders of Vietnam, policy-making agencies and managers to learn about mechanisms, policies and investment opportunities in Vietnam; meet with Vietnamese and foreign enterprises operating in Vietnam, organizations and individuals of science and technology in Vietnam to seek cooperation and investment opportunities; connect and seek resources and partners to implement initiatives to promote the science and technology ecosystem at home and abroad; introduce technology, products and services, and seek investment and business opportunities in Vietnam.
TECHFEST Vietnam 2024 promises to be an important event, contributing to strongly promoting the science and technology movement in Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular, creating new momentum for the country's socio-economic development./.
