At the talks, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang warmly welcomed Mr. Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, on his first official visit to Vietnam, expressing his belief that the visit would be an important milestone, making a practical contribution to promoting mutually beneficial cooperation between Vietnam and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The Deputy Prime Minister congratulated Hong Kong on its great achievements under the management and leadership of the Special Administrative Region Government, along with the attention and support of the Chinese Government, thereby helping Hong Kong continue to consolidate and enhance its position as a leading economic , financial, commercial, scientific and technological center in the region and the world. The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always supports and encourages ministries, sectors and localities to promote and deepen friendly exchanges and comprehensive cooperation with Hong Kong.

Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Lee Ka-chiu expressed his pleasure in his first official visit to Vietnam; sincerely congratulated and highly appreciated Vietnam's outstanding achievements in socio-economic development and international integration in recent years; affirmed that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government attaches great importance to the mutually beneficial cooperation relationship with Vietnam, and is ready to promote the fields of cooperation between the two sides to become increasingly in-depth and effective, bringing practical benefits to the people and business communities of Hong Kong and Vietnam.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang and Chief Executive Lee Ka-chiu expressed their delight at the strong developments and positive results of the Vietnam-Hong Kong relationship in recent times, in which economic, trade, investment and tourism cooperation continues to be a bright spot. Vietnam is currently Hong Kong's second largest trading partner in ASEAN and Hong Kong's seventh largest trading partner globally, while Hong Kong is Vietnam's seventh largest trading partner and fifth largest FDI investor. The two sides agreed to continue to exploit and effectively utilize the opportunities, potentials and advantages of Vietnam and Hong Kong, expand cooperation space, and achieve the goal of mutual benefit and development.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang suggested that the two sides increase delegation exchanges at all levels and sectors; promote deepening and improving the quality and effectiveness of cooperation in key areas such as economics, trade, investment; finance, tourism, culture, education, science and technology, law enforcement and citizen protection.

The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed Hong Kong corporations and enterprises to actively participate in the Vietnamese market, implement high-quality investment projects; increase the import of Vietnamese goods with strengths; request the Special Administrative Region authorities to continue to pay attention and create more favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in the area to live, study and work stably, grant more scholarships to Vietnamese students; and coordinate to prevent illegal activities.

The Deputy Prime Minister also suggested that the two sides strengthen cooperation in multilateral mechanisms and forums, especially Hong Kong's support and close coordination when Vietnam chairs and hosts APEC Year 2027.

Agreeing with Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Lee Ka-chiu suggested that the two sides maintain high-level and all-level exchanges and contacts, welcome Vietnam to send representatives to attend the 9th Belt and Road Summit held in Hong Kong; facilitate Hong Kong enterprises to expand investment cooperation in Vietnam; enhance exchanges on cooperation in the fields of finance, trade, investment, transport services, digital economy, green economy, science and technology; promote Hong Kong's role as a "super connector", and develop economic cooperation between the two sides more effectively and substantially: hope that the two sides will further promote people-to-people exchanges, tourism and education and are ready to promote coordination in multilateral forums.

At the meeting, Mr. Lee Ka-Chiu respectfully invited Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang to visit Hong Kong at a suitable time.

At the end of the talks, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang and Chief Executive Lee Ka-Chiu witnessed the handover ceremony of cooperation documents between Vietnamese and Hong Kong agencies and enterprises in the fields of finance, trade, investment and aviation./.
