Promoting Vietnam - UAE to strengthen cooperation in defense industry

On November 18, within the framework of his visit, work and attendance at the Dubai Airshow 2025 International Aviation Exhibition in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien - Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense - met with Lieutenant General Ibrahim Nasser Al-Alawi, Deputy Minister of Defense of the UAE.

Lieutenant General Ibrahim Nasser Al-Alawi sincerely thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for sending a delegation to attend the Dubai Airshow 2025 and the International Air Chiefs Conference (DIACC) 2025. He emphasized that this is an opportunity for the two sides to enhance exchanges and promote cooperation.

Congratulating the UAE Ministry of Defense on successfully organizing the Dubai International Airshow 2025 and the International Air Chiefs Conference (DIACC) 2025, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien said that this series of events continues to affirm the UAE's position as one of the leading aviation and defense industry centers in the region and the world , demonstrating the UAE's strategic vision, professional organizational capacity and international prestige.

At the meeting, the two sides highly appreciated the positive developments in defense cooperation between the two countries in recent times, notably in the fields of: exchanging delegations at all levels, actively supporting and sending delegations to attend international defense exhibitions, conferences and seminars organized by each side, etc.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien suggested that the two sides strengthen defense consultations, organize defense policy dialogues at the Deputy Minister level; promote the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Defense Industry Cooperation; strengthen cooperation in the defense industry, including cooperation between the General Department of Defense Industry, Viettel Group and major defense industry corporations of the UAE;

Deputy Minister Hoang Xuan Chien also asked the UAE Ministry of Defense to pay attention to promoting the establishment of a Vietnamese Defense Attaché Office in the UAE.

On this occasion, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien respectfully invited the Lieutenant General and the UAE Minister of Defense to visit Vietnam and attend the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition scheduled to be held in late 2026 in Hanoi.

Lieutenant General Ibrahim Nasser Al-Alawi acknowledged the contents just mentioned by Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, saying that he will actively promote and concretize the contents discussed by the leaders of the two sides.

Previously, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien paid a courtesy call to UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Also on the occasion of visiting and working in the UAE, attending the Dubai Airshow 2025, on the afternoon of November 17, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien witnessed the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Viettel Military Industry - Telecommunications Group and the UAE's EDGE Group.

The recently signed Memorandum of Understanding lays a solid foundation for the potential for extensive cooperation in the field of high-tech defense industry.

The Dubai Airshow is one of the world's leading international air shows. This year's show brings together nearly 1,500 exhibitors from 98 countries, with nearly 200 aircraft on display. Dubai Airshow 2025 also showcases the latest advances in aviation and defense technology.
