Attending the workshop were leaders and former leaders of the Ministry of National Defense , the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; leaders of Gia Lai province and departments, agencies and branches; veteran revolutionaries, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, generals, officers, historical witnesses and scientists.

On these days 60 years ago, implementing the correct and creative leadership of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Workers' Party and the timely direction of the Central Military Commission, the General Command, the Central Highlands Front Command launched the Plei Me offensive campaign and won a great victory.

This was the first confrontation between our main force troops and a well-trained division of the US army; marking a new development in the art of campaigning in the Vietnam People's War.

The workshop affirmed the important role, strategic significance and fundamental reasons for the victory of the Plei Me Campaign; lessons learned on the art of leadership and command of the campaign; large-scale concentrated operations; and creative application to practice in building an all-people national defense and people's war posture in the new era of development of the Vietnamese nation.
