GD&TĐ - On July 17, a meeting of the Executive Board of the National Key Program for Mathematics Development for the 2021-2030 period took place.

The conference was held in a combination of in-person and online formats with the participation of members of the Executive Board. Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc - Head of the Executive Board of the National Key Program for Mathematics Development for the 2021-2030 period chaired the meeting.

On December 22, 2020, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 2200/QD-TTg approving the National Key Program for Mathematics Development for the period 2021 to 2030, in which the Ministry of Education and Training is assigned to preside over the implementation of the Program, and the Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics is the permanent unit coordinating the implementation of the Program.

At the meeting, the Program Executive Board presented a report on the results of the Math program in the first 6 months of the year, expected results for the last 6 months of 2025 and deployed the plan and tasks of the Math program in 2026. At the same time, it asked for delegates' opinions on the Draft list of tasks of the national key program for mathematics development to be implemented in 2026.

According to the report of the Executive Board of the National Key Program for Mathematics Development in the 2021-2030 period, in the first 6 months of the year, the implementation results have reached about 67% of the plan, and it is estimated that 100% of the tasks in 2025 will be completed as planned.

The Executive Board continues to promote the dissemination of mathematical knowledge; promote the publication of high-quality mathematical works; support the implementation of generaleducation programs in mathematics; support talent training and improve the quality of human resources in the mathematics sector; promote international cooperation in research, application and training of mathematics.

Communication products on the role of Mathematics in the fourth industrial revolution are being deployed as planned, with 3 introductory articles, communication on Mathematics and applications and some models on mathematics and applications expected.

3 Open Mathematics Festivals were held with over 5,000 participants; 8 lecture series on Mathematics and its applications. Other activities have been planned and are being implemented on schedule.

The Executive Board has urged and organized the implementation of approved ministerial-level science and technology topics; organized forums, conferences, and workshops to discuss modern mathematics education models and methods and made recommendations for Vietnam.

Training courses have been organized for nearly 400 high school and middle school teachers in Mathematics, focusing on interdisciplinary nature and connection with other subjects. Mathematics and STEM education activities for female students and teachers and for students and teachers in remote areas, especially ethnic minorities, are being implemented according to plan.

Create conditions for scientists, organizations and units to become official members and effectively exploit resources and data of the two regional and world Mathematical Associations. Organize two regional and world-class scientific conferences in Asia and the world: High-level Forum in collaboration with the International Federation of Applied and Industrial Mathematics (ICIAM) and the International Association for Statistical Computing in East Asia.

At the conference, members of the Executive Board presented their opinions and discussed activities to promote Mathematics, raise awareness and support teachers; support activities for research groups and scientists of the Mathematics Program... Along with that, delegates exchanged, discussed and raised opinions to contribute to promoting the development of Mathematics.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc acknowledged the efforts and contributions of mathematical scientists in implementing the National Key Program for Mathematics Development in the 2021-2030 period. The documents regulating and guiding the implementation of the Program have been completed and can begin to be systematically implemented according to the annual plan.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc said that in recent years, the role of Mathematics has been enhanced thanks to the development of new technologies using more powerful and diverse mathematical tools. Mathematics has great opportunities to develop. Therefore, there needs to be a mechanism to gather mathematical talents in the country and the world to develop best; aiming for Vietnamese Mathematics to be among the leading countries in the world in the near future.
