Recently, on many social media platforms, a video clip was shared recording hundreds of tourists running away in panic when strong winds and storms hit the sea, attracting more than a million views with a large number of interactions. The area where the incident occurred was identified as Thien Cam beach (Thien Cam commune, Ha Tinh province).

In the comments section, many people believe that this is an image of the moment when Typhoon Wipha (Typhoon No. 3) made landfall. However, some skeptics questioned why tourists were still sitting and playing by the beach when the storm arrived.

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Xuan Vu, owner of a business establishment on the beach where the incident occurred, denied the information that customers ran away when they heard that storm No. 3 was coming ashore.

According to Mr. Vu, the incident happened at 8:30 p.m. on July 19. This was a weekend, coinciding with the peak tourist season in Ha Tinh, so the number of visitors to the beach was very large.

At this time, the restaurant had about 500 customers sitting drinking and listening to music on the beach. All activities were bustling and exciting like any other weekend evening.

However, a sudden tornado-like wind blew up, blowing away sand and dust and sweeping away many tables, chairs, and equipment. Just 5 minutes later, the rain poured down, causing hundreds of guests to flee in all directions.

According to the owner, at around 6pm the same day, the weather in Thien Cam was still beautiful. The sky was clear, the sea was calm and sunny, so many people went swimming. The sky did not show any signs of a possible thunderstorm in the evening.

Late in the evening, when the sudden thunderstorm hit, the business was entering its peak hour. The restaurant was located on the beach, so the scene of hundreds of customers fleeing was chaotic but still under control.

"Fortunately, no one was injured or had any problems. If the storm had come about an hour later, around 9-10pm when the restaurant is busiest with up to 1,000 people, it would have been more difficult to control," the restaurant owner said.

The storm came so quickly that everything was caught off guard. The extreme weather caused about 50% damage to the restaurant, including many of the equipment, sound systems, and LED lights. The restaurant was closed for a few days to recover from the damage.

"We followed the instructions from the local government to prevent storm Wipha and repair the equipment. The business has experienced many storms, but this time was the scariest because it happened late at night, when no one expected it," Mr. Vu shared.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that as of 7 p.m. on July 22, the storm's eye was located at approximately 19.9 degrees North latitude; 105.5 degrees East longitude, on land from Hai Phong to Thanh Hoa.

To cope with storm Wipha (storm No. 3), Ha Tinh banned all vehicles from going to sea before 12:00 on July 21 to prevent it. Accordingly, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province assigned the provincial Military Command to direct functional forces to coordinate with units and localities to immediately implement the ban on vehicles from going to sea before 12:00 on July 21.

Due to the influence of storm No. 3 and its circulation, from July 22 to July 23, in the Northern Delta, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, there will be heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 100-200mm, locally over 300mm.

Other places in the Northern region and Ha Tinh have moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 20-50mm, locally over 100mm.
