Comrade Truong Thi Mai welcomed and thanked Mr. Otsuji Hidehisa for choosing Vietnam as the first country to visit in his capacity as President of the Japanese House of Councilors; expressed her joy that the relationship between the two countries continues to develop strongly; political trust is increasingly consolidated; high-level exchanges take place regularly, especially General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong had an online meeting with Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party, Prime Minister of Japan Kishida in early 2023.

He affirmed that Vietnam consistently attaches importance to its relationship with Japan; highly appreciates Japan's development cooperation and investment in Vietnam; and expressed his belief that the Vietnam-Japan relationship will continue to have positive developments in the coming time.

The Standing Member of the Secretariat suggested that the Japanese House of Councilors pay attention to and urge the Japanese Government to provide new-generation ODA to Vietnam, support Vietnam in the process of green energy, clean energy, and digital transformation; the two sides promote high-level visits, enhance people-to-people exchanges; and promote positive and favorable aspects for bilateral relations.

Comrade Truong Thi Mai thanked and proposed that Japan continue to support policies and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Japan; the two sides closely coordinate at international and regional multilateral forums.

Japanese Senate President Otsuji Hidehisa thanked the Vietnamese leaders for their warm and respectful welcome; expressed his pleasure in visiting Vietnam on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations; affirmed that Japan attaches great importance to its relations with Vietnam, emphasizing that the fact that the delegation visiting Vietnam includes parliamentarians representing political parties in Japan is a demonstration of this respect.

The President of the Japanese Senate shared the proposals of comrade Truong Thi Mai; highly appreciated the lively exchanges between parliamentarians of the two countries, in which the two Parliamentary Groups/Unions have played an important role as a bridge in promoting exchanges and cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries and the relationship between Vietnam and Japan.

The parliamentarians in the delegation emphasized that the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries is also the starting point for the next 50 years of friendly cooperation between the two countries; said that the two countries share many common interests, supported the two sides to increase high-level exchanges, people-to-people exchanges and exchanges between parliamentarians of the two countries; and hoped that Vietnam would share its experience on women's participation in political and social fields.

Japan is willing to share technology on transport infrastructure, support Vietnam in the process of digital transformation and green transformation, and said that many Japanese enterprises currently want to invest in Vietnam.

The parliamentarians expressed their appreciation for the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Japan to the socio-economic development of Japan, and are ready to make efforts to create a legal corridor and favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study and work in Japan.
