The Provincial Party Standing Committee gave opinions on the results of organizing summer activities and preparing for the new school year.

On August 12, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee held a weekly meeting to listen to and give opinions on the results of organizing summer activities for children, preparations for the new school year and some other important contents. Implementing the direction of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, 100% of localities at district, commune, ward and town levels have established summer activity steering committees at all levels. Summer activities for children have been diversified in terms of organization, and their effectiveness has been significantly improved. Up to now, 100% of villages and neighborhoods have organized regular summer activities for children in the area. The whole province has organized 463 swimming classes for over 10,000 children, of which 187 classes are free; organized 282 skill and talent training classes for children with over 16,000 children participating. In addition, activities to care for, support and promote children's participation rights have been focused on and are increasingly becoming more practical.

Regarding preparations for the opening of the 2024-2025 school year and the National Day of Taking Children to School, the Provincial People's Committee has directed the Departmentof Education and Training and the People's Committees of localities to urgently complete the adjustment of the Autonomy Project until 2025 for educational institutions to supplement the number of people working with salaries from career revenue sources; at the same time, continue to improve the management staff in the direction of recruitment or mobilization to supplement the missing number according to the norm. Regarding the preparation of facilities, by the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, 7 more schools invested in construction according to high-quality criteria will be completed and put into use. The Department of Education and Training and the People's Committees of localities have also deployed the purchase of teaching equipment and supplies, and prepared textbooks according to the 2018 General Education Program.

Commenting on this content, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee unanimously agreed that the establishment of the Summer Activities Steering Committee from the provincial to grassroots levels has shown clear effectiveness. Summer activities for children during the summer have been organized in a systematic and effective manner at all levels.

Based on the assessment of the achieved results, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee agreed to continue to maintain the Steering Committee for summer activities at all levels. In particular, at the provincial level, the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee is the head of the committee. The Steering Committees continue to study plans and methods for organizing summer activities for children in the summer of 2025 and the following years, ensuring increasingly improved quality and efficiency.

Regarding preparations for the new school year, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee emphasized that in the 2023-2024 school year, the education sector of Quang Ninh has achieved very outstanding results. The average score of the high school graduation exam ranked 25th nationwide, up 11 places compared to the previous school year. Key education achieved high results, ranking 8th out of 70 units participating in the National Excellent Student Competition. Quang Ninh students won many high prizes in international competitions.

To continue promoting the achieved results, the Provincial Party Standing Committee requested all levels and sectors to focus on preparing the best conditions for the 2024-2025 school year. In particular, the preparation of facilities at educational institutions throughout the province must be completed before August 25. Schools implementing projects to upgrade and repair facilities must have plans to ensure the best teaching and learning conditions for teachers and students.

Regarding the teaching staff, educational institutions proactively arrange existing teachers. At the same time, People's Committees at all levels and education sectors review and develop plans for arranging and assigning teachers among educational institutions in accordance with the actual situation; implement publicity, transparency, and strictly manage revenues and expenditures at the beginning of the year. In addition, it is necessary to soon complete the development of cultural codes of conduct in schools to concretize Resolution 17 of the Provincial Party Committee. All levels and sectors pay attention to, review, and provide timely assistance to students in difficult circumstances, ensuring that all children can go to school, especially preschool and primary school children in remote areas.

Regarding the organization of the new school year opening ceremony, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee requested that preparations be carried out carefully, ensuring solemnity, safety and economy; at the same time, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere and truly becoming a festival for the whole people to bring their children to school. The Education sector researched plans to launch emulation movements according to each year's theme; thereby, creating the premise for Quang Ninh education to achieve even better results in the coming school years.

Also today, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee listened to and gave opinions on the preparation for the conference to summarize 5 years of implementing Resolution 16-NQ/TU dated May 9, 2019 of the Provincial Party Committee on strengthening the Party's leadership in the management of coal and mineral resources in the province and some key tasks of the week.
