On August 17, 1960, the Army Cinema Group under the Propaganda Department, General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army was established. During the fierce war years, the filmmaking team of the Army Cinema was present in all fronts in the North and the South, fighting side by side with the Vietnamese Volunteer Army in Laos and Cambodia. From the places of bombs and bullets, films with the hot breath of the front were born, promptly reflecting the reality of the battlefield, important historical events and developments, encouraging the fighting spirit of soldiers and people, serving the Party's internal and external propaganda work.

From an initial force that was young in terms of professional expertise and lacking in equipment, up to now, the People's Army Cinema has become a professional film production unit, with a team of professional writers and technicians, increasingly modern film production equipment, and has excellently fulfilled its functions and tasks as one of the cultural - artistic - press agencies of the General Department of Politics, Ministry of National Defense .

With its outstanding contributions, the People's Army Cinema was honored to be awarded the title of Heroic Unit of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State, and many medals and awards from all levels and sectors... On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of its tradition, the People's Army Cinema was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister .

Recognizing and appreciating the achievements and contributions of the People's Army Cinema in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, speaking at the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh emphasized: Over 65 years of building, fighting and growing, the People's Army Cinema has always promoted the tradition of self-reliance, overcoming all difficulties and hardships, being present on all battlefields, recording realistic and vivid films, depicting the reality of combat, arousing the spirit of determination to fight and win of our army and people; at the same time effectively serving the Party's internal and external propaganda work. Many comrades heroically sacrificed, leaving part of their bodies on the battlefield or carrying the consequences of war, so that today and tomorrow there will be invaluable film documents about the heroic and resilient fighting spirit of our army and people as well as evidence of the enemy's war crimes.

From a young force, up to now, the People's Army Cinema has become a modern, synchronous, and prestigious unit of the Vietnamese revolutionary cinema with more than 1,400 films of all kinds, storing tens of thousands of meters of film and tens of thousands of minutes of valuable digital documents; many works have won high awards at home and abroad; many artists have been awarded noble titles by the Party and the State.

To continue to successfully complete the task, Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh requested the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the People's Army Cinema to continue to thoroughly grasp the resolutions, directives and conclusions on the development of culture, literature and art of the Party, the State and the Central Military Commission; firmly grasp the orientation and requirements of cinema work in the Army. Proactively advise on the development strategy of the People's Army Cinema in accordance with the characteristics of the new situation; closely combine the production of cinema works with propaganda, archiving, preserving and exploiting documents; focus on creating works about the armed forces, revolutionary war, the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new period; vividly reflect the results of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style; proactively create art, maintain identity, affirm the pioneering position, the leading cinema unit of the Army and the country.

Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh noted that the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the People's Army Cinema focus on discovering, nurturing, and attracting high-quality human resources; boldly assigning tasks and creating a training environment for young people to affirm and develop their talents. Focus on investing, upgrading, and managing well the system of technical facilities and modern film production equipment; harmoniously combining modern technology and creative arts, creating cinematic works of artistic value and widespread social influence.

Along with that, strengthen cooperation, exchange and professional exchange with agencies and units inside and outside the Army, domestic and international film organizations, contributing to spreading the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new period.
