The sacred front row at Quang Tri Citadel on the night of the Red Rain movie screening

During the screening of Red Rain at Quang Tri Citadel on the evening of September 4, the image of the front row of empty seats, with only the soldiers' backpacks and white chrysanthemums, made many viewers choke up.

"After three years working on 'Red Rain ,' I think this is the most important, sacred, and special screening that the People's Army Film Studio and the entire 'Red Rain' team have been waiting for every day."

"On behalf of the entire Red Rain family, I respectfully report to the spirits of the martyrs: We have completed our mission with all our strength and dedication. May the spirits of our uncles and aunts bear witness," director Dang Thai Huyen wrote.

Even now, those feelings remain as strong as they were that day. We bow our heads in gratitude to Quang Tri, the sacred land of our Fatherland, where the flames of war raged for 81 days and will forever shine brightly in our hearts.

The screening was an opportunity to remember and honor the heroic sacrifices of the martyrs at Quang Tri Citadel, and to express deep gratitude to the people, agencies, units, and localities that have accompanied the film crew throughout the production process.

The cast and crew of the film "Red Rain" respectfully pay homage to the spirits of the martyrs.

Bringing "Red Rain" to be screened right at Quang Tri Citadel, in front of about 6,000 spectators, in front of empty seats with soldiers' backpacks, was a noble gesture by the film crew.

In front are candles arranged to form the number 81, symbolizing the 81 days and nights the soldiers bravely fought to defend the Quang Tri Citadel – 81 unforgettable days and nights.

"The images are so moving, so heartbreaking! What is war that it's so terrible! Thank you to the national heroes who fell for our beloved country," one viewer sobbed. Many viewers respectfully hoped that the spirits of the martyrs would come here to witness this, "understand how much they are cherished and that they will be remembered forever."

More than just a photo or a "viral" event, the People's Army Film Studio and the crew of the film "Red Rain" demonstrated their heartfelt appreciation. Even as the film was enjoying strong box office success, the crew organized this tribute screening as a response from the younger generation in peacetime: gratitude and repaying the contributions of previous generations are more important than anything else.

"The People's Army Cinema aims to widely disseminate the great historical values, affirming the patriotic tradition and the indomitable fighting spirit of our army and people."

"This is also an opportunity to educate about revolutionary traditions, awaken national pride, and foster the aspiration for contribution and responsibility of the younger generation in the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland," the Red Rain movie fanpage stated.

Do Nhat Hoang, the lead actor in "Red Rain ," said he shed tears when he saw the empty seats and backpacks in the front row. Actor Hua Vi Van (who plays Doctor Le) also couldn't hold back his tears.

Actor Phuong Nam (playing the role of Ta - the squad leader of squad 1) wrote: "81 days and nights of bloodshed at Quang Tri Citadel. I bow my head in gratitude to the spirits of the brave soldiers who perished here. I hope that 'Red Rain' will somehow recreate, spread, and touch the hearts of the audience with those sacred values."

Dinh Khang (playing Tu, the innocent 16-year-old boy of Squad 1) expressed: "We are very happy to have contributed to such a meaningful product. We pay tribute to the heroes who sacrificed their youth for the country."
