According to the Karabakh Ombudsman Office, the latest updated figures show that the number of confirmed deaths from the fuel depot explosion has reached 68, nearly 300 others were injured while 105 people are still missing.
The explosion occurred as people were queuing at a gas station outside the Nagorno-Karabakh region’s capital, Stepanakert. The cause of the tragedy is still unclear, but authorities are leaning towards the possibility of accidental explosion rather than sabotage, according to The Guardian.

Azerbaijani presidential aide Hikmet Hajiyev told X that hospitals in the country were ready to treat the victims, but it was unclear how the transfer was being carried out.
Azerbaijani authorities also said on September 26 that 30 tons of gasoline and 34 tons of diesel fuel had been sent to the region.
Meanwhile, Armenian authorities said they had brought back 125 bodies from Nagorno-Karabakh for identification, believed to be victims of last week's fighting.
The exodus of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh continues. According to the Armenian government , about 23% of its citizens have left the breakaway region since the 10-month blockade was lifted. The blockade has caused severe shortages of food, medicine and fuel in the region.
Azerbaijan pledges to respect Armenian rights.
US National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said the US will provide additional support to local communities to address the urgent needs of those displaced by violence in the region.
Last week, Azerbaijani troops routed Armenian-backed forces in a 24-hour blitz, forcing the separatist government to agree to lay down its arms and begin talks on rejoining Nagorno-Karabakh with Azerbaijan.
EU, Azerbaijan and Armenia representatives meet in Belgium
According to Anadolu , representatives of the European Union (EU), Azerbaijan and Armenia as well as separate representatives of two EU countries, France and Germany, were present in Brussels on September 26 to discuss the normalization process between Baku and Yerevan.
Advisers to the President of the EU Council Charles Michel, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar, Adviser to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev, Secretary of the National Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan attended the meeting, in addition to the adviser to the French president and assistant to the German chancellor .
The EU said it was closely following developments and called for transparency and humanitarian and human rights guarantees when discussing the future of Armenians in Azerbaijan's Karabakh.
