Thuy Linh lost to Chinese opponent, stopped at the world badminton championship

Early this morning (August 29), the 2025 Badminton World Championship entered the fourth day of competition, Thuy Linh entered the women's singles round of 16 match with world number 4 Chen Yu Fei. In both previous meetings, Thuy Linh lost, so she certainly felt some pressure.

And that was shown on the field when the Vietnamese player had difficulty right from the start. The Chinese player attacked continuously. Chen Yu Fei continuously sent the shuttlecock quickly, smashed the shuttlecock, and even hit the shuttlecock close to the body, making Thuy Linh confused.

Chen Yu Fei kept gaining points while the Vietnamese player tried to break her opponent's winning streak. However, she could only reach 10 points and watched Chen Yu Fei reach 21 points.

In set 2, Thuy Linh tried to equalize the score. And she was quite successful in the early stages with a series of 3 points. From 1-1, Thuy Linh led her opponent to 4-1. After that, the two sides fought in the middle of set 2.

However, with her full physical strength, Chen Yu Fei continued to put pressure on Thuy Linh with her fast playing style and precise handling of situations at a high level. That form helped the Chinese player score 12 points in a row. From 9-9, she rose to win 21-9 in set 2.

A 2-0 win over Thuy Linh helped Chen Yu Fei enter the quarterfinals. Her opponent will be Pornpawee Chochuwong.

Despite losing, Thuy Linh must be admitted to have closed the 2025 Badminton World Championships with a very good result. She was in a difficult bracket because she was not a seed. But Thuy Linh defeated two strong players, Ratchanok Intanon and Kirsty Gilmour. Thuy Linh stopped in the round of 16 and she received 6,000 points from the Badminton World Federation.
