Farewell to Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh to his final resting place

At the National Funeral House (No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi), the Party Central Committee, the Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense and the family solemnly held the funeral and memorial service for Senior Lieutenant General, Professor, Doctor Nguyen Chi Vinh, former member of the Party Central Committee, former member of the Central Military Commission Standing Committee, former Deputy Minister of National Defense, according to the High-Level Funeral ceremony.

The Central Party Executive Committee delegation led by Politburo member, Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Commission Truong Thi Mai , visited Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh , Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet sent wreaths.

The delegation of the Party Central Committee led by Politburo member, Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Commission Truong Thi Mai visited and expressed condolences to the family. Reading the eulogy at the funeral of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, stated: The passing of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh is a great loss, leaving behind infinite sorrow for the Party, State and people; for all officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army and his family.

Through the process of studying, training, fighting and contributing to the country, the army and performing noble international duties, he has continuously matured, from a private soldier to a Senior Lieutenant General, Deputy Minister of National Defense. In all conditions and circumstances, regardless of his position, he always upholds the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, with a calm, receptive, steadfast demeanor, upholding principles, always clearly demonstrating his mettle, intelligence, will and determination to rise up, ready to receive and excellently complete all assigned tasks.

In the cause of building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in the positions of: Department-level cadre to Deputy Director, Director, Deputy Director General, Director General of General Department II, he has made many important and profound contributions to the development of the tasks of the Vietnam defense intelligence sector. He, together with the Party Committee and the General Department command, has led and directed the building of a clean and strong Party organization, the building of a comprehensive and strong defense intelligence force, absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland, and the people, meeting the requirements of the task of building and defending the Fatherland in the new situation.

The National Assembly delegation led by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue visited Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh.

As a member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense, with his strategic thinking, he, together with the Central Military Commission and the leadership of the Ministry of National Defense, performed well the function of advising the Party and the State on military and national defense, not allowing the Fatherland to be passive or surprised in any situation; leading and directing the building of a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and gradually modern Vietnam People's Army, and building a clean and strong military Party organization.

In particular, he made important proposals to the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, the Party and the State in planning military and defense strategies on international integration, cooperation in overcoming the consequences of war in Vietnam and Vietnam's specific efforts to participate in United Nations peacekeeping operations to protect the country early and from afar by peaceful means; create a favorable international environment in defense foreign relations; contribute to enhancing the position, consolidating strategic trust, and broad support of the international community for Vietnam, creating new positions and strengths in the cause of national construction and defense.

From the first day he joined the revolutionary movement until he left us, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh always maintained the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, a loyal, pure, united, straightforward, honest, modest, and simple communist soldier; absolutely loyal to the Party's revolutionary goals and ideals, a pioneer, exemplary, diligent, frugal, honest, upright, and impartial. In his work, he was a sharp leader and commander, closely following reality and having strategic thinking. In life, he was always sincere, close, affectionate, and loyal; trusted, loved, and respected by his comrades, teammates, friends, and people.

In the family, he was a husband, father, and grandfather who lived simply, exemplary, full of sacrifice and compassion.

With 67 years of age, more than 40 years of Party membership, and having held many positions, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh has made many important contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party, State, Army and people; always putting collective interests above personal interests, being a shining example for officers and soldiers of the entire army to learn from and follow.

With his merits and contributions to the revolutionary cause, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh was promoted by the Party and State to the rank of Major General in February 2002, Lieutenant General in December 2004, and Senior Lieutenant General in December 2011. Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh was awarded the First Class Independence Medal; First, Second, and Third Class Military Exploit Medals; First, Second, and Third Class Military Exploit Medals; First Class Fatherland Protection Medal; Third Class Labor Medal; Victory Flag Medal; Glorious Soldier Medal, First, Second, and Third Class; Friendship Medal of the Russian Federation; Second Class Issara Medal of the Lao State; Second Class Heroic Medal of the Lao State; Antonio Maceo Medal of the Republic of Cuba; First Class Fatherland Protection Medal of Cambodia; Grand Cross of Cambodia; Golden Ray of the Rising Sun Medal of Japan and many other noble awards.

At the moment of sending Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh to his final resting place, General Phan Van Giang respectfully sent his deepest condolences to the entire family of Comrade Nguyen Chi Vinh for the irreparable pain and loss.

After the funeral, leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense and family of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh emotionally walked around the coffin for the last time.

After the memorial service, the funeral took place at 1:05 p.m. The burial ceremony for Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh was held at 5:15 p.m. the same day at Thien Duc Park (Bao Thanh Commune, Phu Ninh District, Phu Tho Province).

Party, State and Military leaders bid farewell to Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh

Senior Lieutenant General, Professor, Doctor Nguyen Chi Vinh was born on May 15, 1957, in Quang Tho Commune, Quang Dien District, Thua Thien Hue Province. He was born and raised in a family and hometown with a rich revolutionary tradition; his father was General Nguyen Chi Thanh, the first Chief of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, who devoted his whole life to the cause of national liberation and reunification.

Comrade Nguyen Chi Vinh has held the positions of Deputy Director General, Director General of General Department II, Ministry of National Defense; Deputy Minister of National Defense. He is a member of the Party Central Committee, terms XI and XII.
