(NADS) - Dr. Nick Norwitz, an American researcher, ate 720 eggs in a month, equivalent to 24 eggs a day, to prove that eggs do not increase bad cholesterol as many people worry. The results of the experiment showed that the level of LDL cholesterol (commonly known as “bad cholesterol”) in his body actually decreased by 18% after one month of applying this diet.
During the trial, Dr. Norwitz followed a low-carb, high-fat keto diet that included eggs, along with foods like meat, fish, olive oil, and nuts. Each egg contains about 186 mg of cholesterol, but after consuming a total of 133,200 mg of cholesterol for a month, his LDL levels dropped. This is a remarkable result, considering that many people still believe that eggs can raise cholesterol and be harmful to health.
Scientists explain that when cholesterol from eggs enters the body, it binds to receptors in intestinal cells and promotes the release of a hormone called cholesin. This hormone signals the liver to produce less LDL, helping the body maintain stable cholesterol levels. This helps explain why, despite the high cholesterol content of eggs, it does not cause a buildup of bad cholesterol in the blood.
The video documenting Dr. Norwitz’s journey has attracted nearly 200,000 views and many comments. One viewer shared that they have been eating eggs almost every day for 67 years and have maintained good health, without taking any medication or seeing a doctor.
Dr Norwitz’s experiment is not only a demonstration of the benefits of eggs, but also challenges old ideas about food and health. In fact, not all foods with cholesterol are bad, and it is more important to adopt a balanced diet that suits your body. This opens up a larger question about how we approach nutrition, which should be based on scientific evidence rather than unverified information.
