On the morning of June 17, in Ho Chi Minh City, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee - People's Committee, Ha Tinh Association in Ho Chi Minh City, Institute of Digital Economic Development Strategy and MoMo e-Wallet held a ceremony to receive funding for the program "Flood-proof schools" in Ha Tinh for students, teachers and people in low-lying areas, often affected by storms and floods. The ceremony to receive funding for the program "Flood-proof schools" took place in Ho Chi Minh City on the morning of June 17.
Ha Tinh is a province that is heavily affected by harsh weather and natural disasters, making people's lives extremely difficult. In recent years, the province has focused on implementing many social security programs, especially mobilizing resources to build community cultural houses combined with storm and flood shelters, and solid housing for people.
However, in the province, there are still many houses and schools that are in disrepair, not ensuring the safety of students and people's lives when the flood season comes. According to the survey, Ha Tinh still has hundreds of schools and thousands of houses that need to be renovated and rebuilt with an estimated cost of hundreds of billions of VND.
To help Ha Tinh province overcome the above difficulties, at the meeting at the beginning of the Year of the Cat 2023, the Ha Tinh Association in Ho Chi Minh City, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, and Momo E-Wallet agreed to coordinate and connect to implement the program "Schools overcome floods".
Representing the philanthropists, Ms. Pham Thi Nhung - Deputy General Director of VPBank shared her joy at being able to accompany the program.
The "Flood-proof School" not only helps teachers and students in disadvantaged areas that are often flooded, but also helps households and families with preferential policies whose houses are still temporary and not yet solid, to be supported to build flood-proof houses.
The total budget received by the Organizing Committee up to now is nearly 10 billion VND.
In addition, Tuoi Tre Newspaper cooperated with Online Mobile Services Joint Stock Company to call for contributions on the MoMo e-wallet platform, spreading everyone's companionship to the people of Ha Tinh.
The program is expected to build 20 "Flood-proof Schools" and 30 flood-proof houses for poor households far from schools, with a total cost of about 41.8 billion VND for localities in Ha Tinh that are often affected by floods.

Priority should be given to building schools in remote and low-lying areas that are often flooded during heavy rains and lack classrooms to utilize for teaching when there are no more floods.
For flood-proof houses, priority is given to families with preferential policies, households with special difficulties, temporary houses without flood shelters and often flooded during heavy rains.

Speaking at the ceremony, former President Truong Tan Sang shared the difficulties of Ha Tinh people when they had to suffer heavy losses due to natural disasters.
Affirming the practical and humane significance of the program, former President Truong Tan Sang hoped that the program would spread more widely and receive more support and sharing from charitable organizations and individuals to soon achieve the set goals.

The Provincial Party Secretary shared that in recent years, Ha Tinh has built many community houses to avoid floods, but every year when natural disasters occur, hundreds and thousands of houses and schools need to be repaired.
The "Flood-proof Schools" program is a meaningful and practical program aimed at building schools and school sites in areas that are often heavily affected by natural disasters, so that when floods come, students and people have safe shelters.
With sincere thanks to the dedication and responsibility of units, organizations, businesses and philanthropists, the Provincial Party Secretary affirmed that the province will promptly and effectively deploy the supported funding; direct the construction of works to ensure strictness, quality, aesthetics, effective and long-term use.

At the ceremony, the organizing committee received nearly 10 billion VND for phase 1 of the "Flood-proof School" program in Ha Tinh.
Former President Truong Tan Sang and leaders of Ha Tinh province presented thank you letters to businesses, units and organizations that supported the program.
In addition to the 1 billion VND donated to the program, after viewing images of the lives of Ha Tinh children, VPBank representatives decided to send an additional 1 billion VND and the cost of repairing a school in Ha Tinh.
In the coming time, the program "Flood-proof schools" will continue to receive contributions from philanthropists, companies and corporations to continue supporting the people of Ha Tinh to quickly implement and build for the people.
