The responsibility of the generation of Viettel cadres and party members today and tomorrow is to continue to make Viettel stronger, worthy of the trust and expectations of a key economic group of the country. On the occasion of the 11th Congress of Viettel Party Committee, term 2025-2030, we had an interview with Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang about the results Viettel achieved in the past term and the upcoming orientation.

Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang : The achievements and transformations stem from Viettel having a very complete and precise congress resolution to guide the way. The Party Committee of the Group and Party committees at all levels have led and managed the implementation of the resolution very closely, steadfastly with the set goals and tasks. Viettel has successfully transformed from a telecommunications operator to a technology company, providing digital services. This is not only a story of changing the name but also a transformation in thinking and action. Viettel builds and masters digital infrastructure, promotes many new spaces such as logistics, digital solutions, AI... thereby expanding the Group's revenue, leading the national digital transformation. Many high-tech products researched and developed by Viettel have been exported to international markets.

Next is the outstanding achievement in the field of high-tech industry. After a long period of exploration and persistent research, Viettel has successfully completed many strategic equipment, many difficult and high-tech components with the time exceeding the set schedule. These proud results further strengthen Viettel's core role in building a high-tech defense industrial complex, the core in the cause of modernizing the Army, and at the same time demonstrate the capacity and intelligence of the Vietnamese people in the cause of defending the Fatherland.

Another thing to mention is the effort to gain momentum in revenue growth from the middle of the term and reach the growth mark of 10.3% by the end of 2024 - the highest growth rate in the industry and reaching double digits after 7 years. The Group continues to be one of the most effective state-owned enterprises, the average income of officers and employees is also getting better and better. In particular, the foreign market segment has continuously grown at double digits for many years, contributing significantly to the overall growth of the Group. Viettel has recovered capital in 6 markets and in the past 5 years, 3 more companies have held the No. 1 position, thereby making Viettel the leader in 7 international markets: Cambodia, Laos, East Timor, Burundi, Myanmar, Haiti and Mozambique.

Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang : It can be seen that recently there have been many mechanisms and policies that can be decisive for the future of the Group. Viettel is the first state-owned enterprise to have its development strategy approved by the Prime Minister until 2025, with a vision to 2030. The Viettel restructuring project has also been approved, or the post-tax profit budget to serve research and production in defense and security. The Group is highly appreciated for its proactive and active advice and proposal of contributions to the mechanisms and policies of the Party, State, ministries and branches, thereby removing many obstacles and creating favorable conditions for production and business activities.

Viettel is honored that the trust of the Party, State and Army in Viettel is increasing. Over the years, Viettel has welcomed many high-ranking leaders of Vietnam and countries around the world to visit the Group's headquarters as well as market companies. All leaders have acknowledged and praised Viettel, and at the same time have a better understanding of the difficulties and challenges of a Vietnamese enterprise when investing, doing business and working abroad. The Group has received trust from the Party, State, Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense and has been entrusted with more important responsibilities. This shows the importance and responsibility of Viettel in participating in solving the country's major problems.

And many other memorable marks in the past 5 years. All contributed to creating a successful term of the Party Committee of the Group when all goals were completed, many targets far exceeded the requirements in the resolution. Viettel ended the 2020-2025 term with excitement for the achievements, respect for the strength of the collective, pride in the prestige and great stature of the Group and the enthusiastic spirit to enter a new term.

Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang: The direction of the 11th Congress of Viettel Group Party Committee closely follows the breakthrough resolutions of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense.

In the fast-paced technological trend, the past, present and future are no longer so distinct. Everything today will become the past tomorrow. Tomorrow, when we wake up, everything we thought in the future will have become the present. Such awareness motivates Viettel to “not wait, act faster and create the future itself”.

The goals we set out in this congress deeply demonstrate Viettel's will and determination in the overall development process of the whole country. Of course, it is not easy, but Viettel has every reason to be optimistic because the solutions have been clearly and specifically outlined.

Not stopping at the next 5 years, the Group has carefully prepared and created a wide open path for Viettel in the years to come. In particular, the Group has invested in research and participated in the development of 9 out of 11 strategic technology groups in Vietnam according to the Prime Minister's decision. These are artificial intelligence, digital copy, virtual reality, augmented reality; cloud computing technology, quantum, big data; Blockchain technology; next-generation mobile network technology (5G/6G); robotics and automation technology; semiconductor chip technology; energy technology, advanced materials; network security and aviation and space technology. And there will be many other new technologies that Viettel will take the lead in and conquer.

Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang: That is confidence. I hope all Viettel members need to maintain and demonstrate more strongly their confidence - believe in themselves, believe in the organization, believe in the path Viettel is taking and believe in Viettel's sustainable future.

Viettel has received high expectations from the Party, State and Ministry of National Defense leaders, opening up many breakthrough mechanisms and policies to accelerate development. The Group has built a clear strategy, high goals, even very high and completely feasible. Viettel also has full potential and resources to realize its aspirations. So there is no reason not to be confident in taking action.

And the current context requires more rapid, more creative, more dedicated, more decisive actions from each collective and individual to not only see opportunities early, from afar and be ready to seize them, but also proactively create opportunities, turn opportunities into specific results, bring positive values, and make significant contributions to the unit, to the Group, and more importantly, to the country.

How to be worthy of the trust and expectations of the Party, the State, the Army and the people? How to be worthy of the institutional innovation and breakthrough of the historic resolutions? That is the command and also the biggest challenge of Viettel in the new era.

When there is confidence, Viettel will boldly step over and rise above difficulties. Difficulties never end. If difficulties end, Viettel will probably no longer exist and Viettel people will no longer have the motivation to grow. Therefore, courageously facing difficulties is a natural and inevitable journey for each Viettel person to make better progress. As long as there are still hardships, that means we will continue to move forward and have high goals to reach.
