NDO - On December 30, the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City held a conference to review work with overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City in 2024 and deploy directions and tasks for 2025.
In 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese has made efforts to coordinate with agencies and units to advise the City People's Committee on key tasks related to overseas Vietnamese and successfully completed the assigned tasks.
Accordingly, the Committee has implemented a number of key activities such as: Advising the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to successfully organize the Homeland Spring 2024 program in Ho Chi Minh City; organizing a working delegation to visit, examine, distribute medicine, and give gifts to Vietnamese people and people in difficult circumstances in the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
The Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese inaugurated the first phase of the project "Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space - Overseas Vietnamese Meeting Place"; advised on the Project "Policy to promote remittance resources in Ho Chi Minh City from now until 2030"; advised on the plan to select and honor 50 outstanding overseas Vietnamese individuals who have made many positive contributions to the construction and development of Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025)...

In 2024, the unit coordinated with the Department of Culture and Sports and the Department of Foreign Affairs to organize art troupes to serve overseas Vietnamese on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2024 in European countries (Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary) and Thailand; on the occasion of National Day September 2 and Mid-Autumn Festival in Finland, Sweden, and Denmark.
The Committee has actively responded to and implemented the Government's Project "Vietnamese Language Honor Day" in the overseas Vietnamese community for the period 2023-2030. The City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese has connected and presented the "Vietnamese Bookshelf" to the overseas Vietnamese community, contributing to supporting the source of books serving the teaching and learning of Vietnamese for overseas Vietnamese children in other countries.
Specifically, in 2024, the unit donated 8 bookcases from socialized sources to Vietnamese communities in countries such as: Czech Republic, Thailand, Laos, Korea, Japan, Finland, Sweden, and Denmark.
Speaking at the conference, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Vu Thi Huynh Mai pledged to focus on implementing well the directions of the leaders of the City Party Committee and People's Committee and continue to coordinate effectively with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to join hands to successfully implement the city's targets and tasks.
Thereby, the Committee focuses on connecting and promoting overseas Vietnamese resources to contribute knowledge, experience and resources to the city, promptly advising the city's leaders to reward and honor the contributions of overseas Vietnamese in building and developing the city on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

On this occasion, many collectives and individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and Certificates of Merit from the City's Committee for Overseas Vietnamese for their contributions to the work for Overseas Vietnamese in recent times.
