The Provincial Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited said it will increase the flow through Cam Hang reservoir's spillway tonight (July 29).
Accordingly, at 9:00 p.m. on July 29, the flow will be increased to 6 m3/s; after 11:00 p.m. the same day, depending on the flow to the lake and the downstream situation, the flow will be increased from 6 to 15 m3/s.
To avoid damage to people in the affected areas due to increased water flow through Cam Hang reservoir, the Provincial Irrigation Works Exploitation Company has requested the People's Committee of Ham Thuan Bac district to notify localities and people along the Cam Hang reservoir flood discharge route to proactively take safety precautions.
It is known that on July 29, there was rain in the upstream area of Cam Hang Lake. As of 5:00 p.m. on July 29, the water level of Cam Hang Lake was at +24.85 m, approximately equal to the normal water level of +25 m and is still increasing. The flow rate currently being discharged through the spillway is 4 m3/s. According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the coming days, there will continue to be rain in the province, with some places experiencing heavy to very heavy rain. Increasing the amount of water regulated through the spillway is to ensure the safety of the project and reduce flooding downstream when heavy rain occurs.
As reported, to ensure the safety of the reservoir due to prolonged heavy rain, at 1:00 p.m. on July 29, the Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited increased the regulated flow to 30 m3/s. After 3:00 p.m. on the same day, depending on the amount of water coming to the reservoir, the regulated flow will be increased to 40 - 100 m3/s.
