In the first 6 months of 2024, the Provincial Customs Department has focused on synchronously implementing plans to promote administrative reform, modernize customs, and facilitate import and export activities.

Thanks to that, the import-export and immigration performance indicators all increased compared to the same period in 2023. The state budget revenue in the first 6 months of the year reached 548.72 billion VND, of which coal imported through La Lay International Border Gate alone had the highest revenue, reaching 247.81 billion VND, accounting for 45.16%. The fight against cross-border smuggling continues to be of interest to the Provincial Customs Department. From January 1 to June 30, 2024, the unit detected, coordinated to arrest and handle 247 cases of customs law violations, with goods valued at more than 4.37 billion VND, and total fines of more than 1.3 billion VND.

Promoting the achieved results, in the last 6 months of 2024, the Provincial Customs Department determined to continue to improve the quality of assessment and analysis of import-export activities; monitor and closely follow revenue sources and promptly reflect fluctuations in revenue in the area; continue to implement solutions to reform administrative procedures and modernize customs work.

Strengthening the dissemination and popularization of policies and laws; improving the effectiveness of support work, creating maximum favorable conditions for enterprises in import and export activities while still ensuring supervision and management in accordance with legal regulations. At the meeting, delegates analyzed and clarified difficulties and obstacles in the state budget collection work and proposed solutions to overcome them. The leaders of the Provincial Customs Department proposed that the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council give opinions and request the Provincial People's Committee to consider, decide and direct the relevant agencies to completely resolve difficulties and obstacles in the transfer and offloading of goods at Lao Bao International Border Gate; create favorable conditions for the early construction of items in the approved detailed planning of the La Lay International Border Gate area; speed up the construction of My Thuy deep-water seaport; soon start the project to build a conveyor system to transport coal from Laos to Vietnam...
