The People's Court sentenced Truong Anh Tam (40 years old) and Dang Van Ngoc (37 years old) to 9 years in prison; Tran Dinh Thao (47 years old, both residing in Tho Quang Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang City) to 10 years in prison, both for murder.

According to the indictment, on the afternoon of May 29, 2022, while drinking at Ngoc's house, Ngoc told Tam about the land dispute between Ngoc and Thao, who are cousins.

Tam went to Thao's house and called her to Ngoc's house to make peace but it didn't work. After being beaten by Tam and Ngoc, Thao went home to get a shovel to fight back but Tam took the shovel and hit her in the eye, causing her to fall on the street.

Tam took the shovel and continued to hit Thao's head. Ngoc also took the shovel and hit Thao's head until it bled.

Thao ran home and released the two pitbulls and the German Shepherd in the cage. Thao chased the dogs to Ngoc's house, pointed at Ngoc so the pitbull pounced on her, causing Ngoc to fall down and bite her neck and many other places.

Thao also rushed to punch Ngoc. When Tam used a two-pronged stick (used to catch fish) to chase away the pitbull to save Ngoc, Thao hugged Tam and shouted "let the dog bite it to death".

The pitbull bit Ngoc until she was unconscious, then Thao brought the dog home.

As a result, Ngoc suffered 29% injuries and Thao suffered 14%. According to the panel of judges, Tam and Ngoc used a shovel, a dangerous weapon, to hit the face and head, vital areas of the body, thus constituting the crime of murder. Thao was initially charged with intentional infliction of injury, but the panel of judges opened a first-instance trial, returned the case file, and requested additional investigation.

After that, the investigation agency and the People's Procuracy of Da Nang City agreed to change the charge to murder. The reason is that pitbulls and German Shepherds are fierce dogs, and attacking their opponents with their dogs could lead to death.

In addition to the above sentence, the People's Court also ordered the confiscation and destruction of two pitbull and German Shepherd dogs (currently being kept by Thao's family at home).
