Over 300 orphaned and disadvantaged students are supported before the new school year.

(DN) - On the afternoon of September 4, the Women's Union of Dong Nai province organized a ceremony to present support from Long Thanh Golf Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company to orphans due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the Ao Dai for Children to Go to School program for orphaned female students in difficult circumstances for the 2025-2026 school year.

Speaking at the program, Chairwoman of the Provincial Women's Union Le Thi Thanh Loan said: The Godmother Program, launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union since 2021, has supported care, nurturing, and helped many orphans due to the Covid-19 pandemic have more support in their journey to adulthood.

Accompanying the Provincial Women's Union in implementing the Godmother program, from 2022, Long Thanh Golf Investment and Business Joint Stock Company has committed to supporting the Provincial Women's Union with 1 billion VND each year (for 10 years), helping hundreds of orphans have the conditions to continue going to school and improve their lives.

In the 2025-2026 school year, Long Thanh Golf Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company provided support to 209 orphaned students due to the Covid-19 epidemic in the province with a total amount of over 1 billion VND.

At the program, the Provincial Women's Union awarded support to 76 children living in the wards of Tran Bien, Bien Hoa, Ho Nai, Long Binh, Long Hung, Tam Hiep, Trang Dai with a total amount of 370 million VND. Of which: 2 children who do not go to school will receive support of 3 million VND/child, 6 children under 5 years old will receive support of 4 million VND/child, 68 children from primary school to university will receive support of 5 million VND/child. For the remaining children, the Provincial Women's Union will transfer money to the Women's Unions of communes and wards to give directly to the children.

The Ao Dai for Children to School program was launched by the Provincial Women's Union from the 2024-2025 school year. This year, the Women's Union at all levels surveyed and found 107 orphaned female students with difficult circumstances who wanted to be given Ao Dai (1-2 sets for each student). On that basis, the Provincial Women's Union mobilized funds to buy fabric and 40 members who are Ao Dai tailors made 147 Ao Dai sets to give to female students before the new school year.

At the program, the Provincial Women's Union presented Ao Dai to representatives of 19 female students (the remaining female students will be presented by the Women's Union of communes and wards); at the same time, awarded 18/19 scholarships (worth 1 million VND/scholarship) to female students in difficult circumstances.
