In 2023, Quang Nam welcomed 104,000 Australian visitors. In the first 8 months of 2024, this stream of visitors maintained its growth momentum with more than 96,000 visitors. And Australia has always been in the top 5 international tourist markets of Quang Nam in recent years.

From online booking platform Agoda, Hoi An is one of the most searched destinations in Vietnam by Australian tourists in summer 2024.

Meanwhile, Australian travel site Escape has ranked Hoi An 4th in its list of the 13 best destinations in the world to travel to in September.

In addition, in May 2024, Hoiana Resort & Golf also welcomed the contestants of the 2024 Miss Universe Australia pageant to stimulate summer tourism and increase marketing to this market.

Australia is considered a high-spending tourist market with a large potential. To promote this market, Quang Nam cooperated with Thua Thien Hue and Da Nang to organize a tourism introduction program in Melbourne (September 11) and a tourism investment promotion seminar in Sydney (September 13).

Among the 27 units and businesses of 3 provinces and cities in the Central region participating in the promotion program, there are 16 units providing services from accommodation, travel, cuisine, entertainment, and healthcare.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hai - Vinpearl Market Development Director said that in the first 8 months of 2024, the Australian market at Vinpearl hotels in Quang Nam grew by more than 150% over the same period. The Australian tourist market to Quang Nam has shifted in terms of age and consumer behavior. Tourists are gradually getting younger and paying more attention to resort experiences.

“Participating in this promotion campaign, Vinpearl has designed sales packages with diverse experience itineraries for the Australian market. Understanding the need to find new destinations, the unit and the local tourism industry are promoting the heritage destination of Hoi An combined with resort experiences at Cua Dai Beach and Binh Minh Beach to bring the perfect vacation choice for Australian tourists,” said Mr. Hai.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that Australian tourists are particularly interested in cultural tourism, golf tourism, and sustainable green tourism. This is the strength of Quang Nam when it owns 2 world cultural heritages, international standard golf courses, unique and diverse cuisine. Not to mention, Quang Nam is focusing on developing green tourism, eco-tourism, rural tourism, etc.

Therefore, the tourism promotion program in Australia is expected to open up many new opportunities to attract the Australian market in general and Australian tourists in particular to Quang Nam and the central localities of Vietnam.
