According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province currently has nearly 120,000 hectares of coconut plantations, accounting for more than 50% of the country's coconut acreage. Of these, about 26,000 hectares are grown organically and the acreage continues to increase. Thanks to active care and investment in technological innovation, the quality of coconuts and coconut-based products has been continuously improved.
In addition, green development associated with the value chain creates favorable conditions and opportunities for the province's coconut products to build brands and access markets with high quality standards, thereby enhancing the reputation of the coconut industry, creating added value and stability from production to consumption. The province has 171 codes for coconut growing areas for export, with a total area of over 11.5 thousand hectares. The main export market is China, with a few going to the US, Europe, Japan, and EU markets.
Currently, the agricultural sector is focusing on building a comprehensive coconut development project until 2030 and orientation to 2050. Accordingly, the coconut industry will be developed in a sustainable direction associated with the issuance of growing area codes and product orientation for the export market; building concentrated coconut production areas, associated with the development of value chains to improve the quality of coconut products, applying high technology, circular production and deep processing of coconut products.
