The Chairman of Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to preside over and coordinate with Tan Phu Dong District People's Committee and relevant agencies to organize the transportation of fresh water to reservoirs in Tan Phu Dong District, serving to maintain the production of domestic water for people in the district.
Provincial leaders requested a survey to select transportation locations and transportation times, ensuring timely transportation of fresh water to provide domestic water for people in Tan Phu Dong district.
At the request of the provincial leader, the relevant agencies must widely announce on the mass media about the situation of saltwater intrusion and lack of domestic water in the dry season of 2024 in Tan Phu Dong district so that people and organizations know and proactively implement appropriate measures in production and daily life.
As Dan Tri reported, for nearly half a month, tens of thousands of households in the east of Tien Giang, including districts such as Go Cong Dong, Go Cong Tay, and especially Tan Phu Dong, have suffered from serious water shortages.
The province has opened more than 82 public water taps for people to use for free. In addition, many organizations and individuals have transported charity water by truck and barge to support fresh water for people in drought-stricken areas.
