On June 10, Ms. Mac Thanh Thao (35 years old, Vietnamese American) said that her family in Vietnam is contacting the Kien Giang Provincial Police to complete procedures to receive back the Patek Philippe watch worth 278 million VND lost at the end of 2022 at Phu Quoc International Airport.
Meanwhile, the authorities have yet to release information about how the watch was lost and where it was found, leaving the public wondering.

A series of comments sent to Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper by readers expressed their indignation. Most of the comments raised the issue of why the authorities have not yet announced the reason for the loss of the watch.
Reader Pham Nhu Hoa wondered: "This case is so strange, I hope the authorities will let readers know where the watch is hidden so carefully..."
More specifically, reader Nguyen Thi Khanh Hoa requested: "When the police officially announce the identity of the thief, please widely inform readers!"
Reader Bui Ta Vinh wondered: "The authorities have confirmed that they found the watch, so why not announce it or is there a sensitive issue that cannot be disclosed? I think that when the authorities investigate and clarify the issue, it will be considered to have come to an end and be made public... If it is kept in limbo like this, many people will have more headaches and lose confidence."
"Why not announce who found it and where? Or are you afraid of embarrassing someone if you announce it?" - reader Hung Ngo asked directly.
As reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , on December 25, 2022, Ms. Thao's family went to Phu Quoc airport to check in for the flight back to Ho Chi Minh City on flight VN6526, taking off at 9:55 a.m.
According to Ms. Thao, she put the Patek Philippe watch worth 278 million VND in her handbag, then put the handbag on a tray that ran through the security scanner. Ms. Thao pushed the tray through the machine, her husband on the other end received the tray containing the bag...
However, when Ms. Thao checked again, the watch was no longer in her bag. She checked the trays around but could not find the watch, so she reported it to the authorities.
On June 9, 2023, the leader of Kien Giang Provincial Police said that the lost watch had been found.
