Organizing a running race to conquer Son Tra Peninsula.

On the morning of November 30th, the Vietnam Television Center for the Central and Central Highlands Region (VTV8) held the announcement ceremony for the “VTV8 Son Tra Run Challenge 2023” with the message “Running in the clouds – Just run…”.

The “VTV8 Son Tra Run Challenge 2023” is a running event jointly organized by the People's Committee of Son Tra District ( Da Nang City) and the Vietnam Television Center for the Central and Central Highlands Region (VTV8).

Accordingly, the race will officially start on December 23rd and 24th, 2023, in the Son Tra Peninsula area, Da Nang, with three distances: 6km, 16km, and 26km. Participants include all athletes, running groups, and running enthusiasts who want to compete and have an enjoyable experience on the Son Tra Peninsula.

Nearly 2,000 athletes are expected to compete on a specially designed course featuring lush green natural scenery and a slope of almost 1,000 meters leading straight to the summit of Son Tra Mountain. Each distance will have fixed water stations, medical support stations, and mobile medical vehicles to provide timely assistance and support to runners.

The athletes participating this time range in age from 12 (for the 6km race) and 16 (for the 16km and 26km races), coming not only from within the country but also from more than 10 countries and territories. The organizing committee will recognize the competition results and award prizes to the athletes who achieve first, second, and third place in the three distances, as well as other prizes for male and female athletes.

In addition to promoting physical exercise and fostering a sports- loving community, the VTV8 Son Tra Run Challenge also aims to showcase the cultural beauty and scenic landscapes of the Son Tra peninsula and raise awareness of the importance of appreciating and protecting nature and wildlife.

Athletes will have the opportunity to test their limits on challenging slopes, but will also enjoy the unique feeling of running in the early morning mist, running through bright clouds, catching the first rays of sunlight on the top of Son Tra mountain, and admiring the beautiful city of Da Nang from above.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Truong Duy Hoa, Deputy Director of VTV8 – Vietnam Television Center for the Central and Central Highlands regions, said that the theme of green living is currently a popular trend worldwide. The definition of green living goes beyond simply living in areas with abundant greenery; it also includes efforts for the community to live together in a truly green, clean, and bright environment.

Therefore, alongside the VTV8 - Son Tra Challenge 2023 race, there will be a series of environmental-oriented activities. Through the race, the organizers want to spread a message encouraging action from all participants: working together to expand greenery, reduce plastic waste, and protect the environment.
