Organizing Cooking and Calligraphy Competitions in the Chinese Community

STO - On September 24, at Duc Anh Primary and Secondary School, Soc Trang City (Soc Trang), the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Soc Trang City coordinated with the Center for Culture, Sports - Broadcasting and the Chinese Mutual Aid Association of the city to organize the "Chinese Calligraphy" and "Chinese Cuisine" writing contests in 2023. Comrade Nguyen Thi Kieu Linh - Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Soc Trang City attended.

The “Chinese Calligraphy” writing contest had 15 contestants. The “Chinese Cuisine” contest alone had 13 teams participating. Contestants were Chinese organizations, individuals, and families living and working in Soc Trang city.

Contestants demonstrated cultural values ​​through the presentation and meaning of their products with creative writing. The calligraphy works demonstrated harmony and balance in lines and sentences. The dishes in the contest such as: stewed chicken, five-color rice, braised pork, Chinese pork leg... were meticulously and skillfully cooked, beautifully presented, and had the traditional flavor of the Chinese.

According to comrade Ngo Van Hung - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Soc Trang city, the contest aims to preserve and promote the cultural values ​​of the Chinese community in Soc Trang city, contributing to introducing traditional and typical dishes of the Chinese people. Thereby, creating a joyful, creative and exciting atmosphere for participants. This is also an opportunity for groups and individuals to learn and exchange experiences with each other.

At the end of the competition, the organizing committee awarded the first prize in “Chinese Cuisine” to the team from La Han Pagoda. For the “Chinese Calligraphy” competition, Mr. Quach Tri Tuyen won the first prize. In addition, the organizing committee also awarded the second, third and consolation prizes to the teams and individuals with high achievements.
