The Khmer ethnic group's Chôl Chnăm Thmây New Year celebrations will take place from April 13th to 16th. Thu Duc City will organize a cultural gathering and gift-giving event for Khmer people from poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households. The program is scheduled to take place at 7 PM on April 11th, 2024 at the Thu Duc City Book Street.
The event included cultural performances, New Year's greetings from city leaders, speeches from representatives of ethnic minority households, and gift-giving to poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households (114 households).
In addition, the city also organized many activities to commemorate the Day of Ethnic Cultures on April 19th, and the 78th anniversary of the establishment of the state management agency for ethnic affairs (May 3rd, 1946 - May 3rd, 2024). These included exhibitions of images, artifacts, costumes, musical instruments, and characteristic cultural and artistic features and cuisine of various ethnic groups; an exhibition of socio -economic development achievements of Thu Duc City; and images of ethnic affairs activities from 2019-2024 at the First Congress of Ethnic Minority Representatives of Thu Duc City in 2024.
Organizing activities for the National Ethnic Culture Day on April 19th aims to preserve and promote the cultural traditions of ethnic groups, contributing to strengthening national unity; preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups, and practically caring for the material and spiritual lives of ethnic minority people.
The organization of the Chôl Chnăm Thmây Tet festival in 2024 demonstrates the Party and State's concern and implementation of ethnic policies towards ethnic minorities in Thu Duc City; contributing to helping the Khmer ethnic people stabilize their lives and encouraging them to become increasingly attached to the locality.
