Seminar to celebrate Vietnam Day of People with Disabilities

Dien Bien TV - On the morning of April 15, the Provincial Association for the Support of People with Disabilities and Protection of Children's Rights held a meeting with officials working for the association; leaders of departments, branches, organizations, enterprises, outstanding people with disabilities and their families on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of Vietnam Day for People with Disabilities (April 18, 1998 - April 18, 2025). Attending the meeting was Mr. Vu A Bang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Delegates attending the seminar reviewed the tradition of Vietnam Day for People with Disabilities and listened to a quick report on the Association's work over the past years. Currently, the province has nearly 8,800 people with disabilities; including nearly 6,000 people with severe disabilities, more than 2,000 people with extremely severe disabilities; nearly 5,700 orphans in difficult circumstances and more than 63,400 children at risk of falling into special circumstances. Every year, the Association has proactively connected with sponsors to organize donations, support money and goods with a total value of 2 - 3 billion VND to build houses, create livelihoods for families of people with disabilities; support the construction of classrooms in difficult areas; award scholarships; give bicycles to poor students, orphans and support people with extremely severe disabilities.

Ms. Pham Thi Vinh, President of the Provincial Association for the Support of People with Disabilities and Protection of Children's Rights, awarded Certificates of Merit to groups with outstanding achievements in implementing the QR code scanning campaign to support people with disabilities and orphans.

Speaking at the seminar, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vu A Bang praised the spirit of the disabled and the active contributions and support of all levels, sectors and enterprises to care for and support the disabled in recent times. He requested the Provincial Association for the Protection of the Disabled and Protection of Children's Rights, departments, sectors, enterprises and the community to continue to pay attention and support to motivate the disabled to confidently participate in activities in social life.

On this occasion, the Provincial Association for the Protection of the Disabled and Protection of Children's Rights awarded Certificates of Merit to 5 individuals who are outstanding sponsors and disabled people; awarded Certificates of Merit to 19 individuals and 10 collectives with outstanding achievements in implementing the QR code scanning campaign to support the disabled and orphans in the province./.
