On the morning of January 9, in Ho Chi Minh City, General Secretary To Lam met with former leaders of the Party and State, exemplary veteran officials, and representatives of intellectuals, scientists, and artists from southern provinces and cities.

Attending the conference were former Politburo members and former Presidents Nguyen Minh Triet and Truong Tan Sang; former Politburo member and former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; former Politburo member and former Standing member of the Secretariat Le Hong Anh; and former Party and State leaders.

Also attending were Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia; Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc; representatives of leaders of departments, ministries, branches, central agencies and Ho Chi Minh City.

At the meeting, delegates expressed their joy and emotion at the attention of the Party, State, central ministries and branches; proposed to pay attention and create favorable conditions for the artists to continuously grow, contribute more, meet the requirements of national development; have recommendations to improve institutions, create breakthroughs in science, technology development, innovation and national digital transformation; develop high-quality human resources for the country...

In the atmosphere of the first days of the new year 2025, at the meeting, on behalf of the Party and State leaders and with personal feelings, General Secretary To Lam sincerely thanked and wished all comrades and their families a new year of good health and happiness, continuing to pay attention, contribute enthusiastic and intellectual opinions to the glorious revolutionary cause of our Party and our people.

The General Secretary shared that in the face of many difficulties and challenges both internally and externally, our entire Party, people and army have made efforts and strived to achieve important achievements and results. In 2024, our country has excellently and comprehensively fulfilled its socio-economic development goals, while achieving important steps in Party building and political system building.

In particular, the achievements have been greatly contributed by former leaders, intellectuals, scientists, artists - those who have devoted their intelligence, enthusiasm and valuable experience to contributing to policy making, providing orientations and breakthrough solutions in all fields.

The General Secretary said that 2025 is a very important year for the country. The Party Central Committee has reached a high consensus on determining the basic awareness of the new era, the era of national development, under the leadership and governance of the Communist Party, to successfully build a socialist Vietnam, a rich people, a strong country, democracy, equity, and civilization.

The top priority in the coming period is to successfully implement the strategic goals by 2030, Vietnam will become a developing country with modern industry and high average income; by 2045 it will become a developed country with high income. Therefore, under the leadership of the Party, the entire people will unite, join hands, make the most of opportunities and advantages, push back risks and challenges, and bring the country to comprehensive and strong development, breakthroughs and take off.

To successfully implement the Party's major policies, the General Secretary said that first of all, the Party Central Committee has reached a consensus, the political system has been thoroughly grasped, determined to implement, and has received high consensus and support from the people.

Next, considering science and technology as a breakthrough, on December 22, 2024, the Politburo passed Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation. This is considered a top important breakthrough, the main driving force to rapidly develop modern productive forces, perfect production relations, innovate national governance methods, develop the socio-economy, prevent the risk of falling behind, and bring the country to breakthrough development and prosperity in the new era.

The General Secretary hopes that intellectuals and scientists will strive to fulfill their responsibilities and missions in the new revolutionary period, contributing together with the entire Party, people and army to successfully achieve the country's strategic goals.

The intellectual team trains, nurtures, and helps the next generation progress, becoming a strong driving force for building and protecting the Fatherland, contributing to shaping the future of humanity and global civilization; being a bridge to build a network of domestic and international experts, scientists, Vietnamese intellectuals abroad, and foreigners.

"The Party, State and people have great trust and expectations in the team of intellectuals and scientists - the core pioneers who create strong innovations and breakthroughs, aiming for the goal of rapid and sustainable development of the country in the new period," the General Secretary expressed.

The General Secretary emphasized that since the establishment of the Party and the government, our Party and State have always paid special attention to the artists and writers, and have issued many resolutions, mechanisms and policies, creating favorable conditions and space for the development of literature and art. In response, the artists and writers have increasingly matured and grown, making many particularly important contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party.

The revolutionary artists have become the Party's cultural army, the core factor creating the new cultural strength and depth, promoting the formation and development of the socialist-oriented cultural industry, constantly nurturing the spiritual life of the people, contributing to the enrichment of the nation's long-standing and unique culture, making the country glorious and contributing to the civilization of humanity.

The General Secretary hopes that in the coming time, artists will contribute and dedicate more by creating works of great significance to the times, with great ideological and artistic value, honoring the values of truth, goodness and beauty, serving the people and the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

The General Secretary said that the Party will issue a Resolution on the development of culture and arts and study and promulgate a National Strategy on building literature and arts in the new era. The National Assembly, the Government, and relevant agencies will coordinate to remove bottlenecks in laws, mechanisms, policies, budgets, finance, investment, etc. to create resources and space for artists to freely create and compose, while fighting against deviant, degraded, and uncultured ideologies.

The goals of achieving a strong, prosperous, democratic, fair and civilized Vietnam are not only the aspirations of each individual but also the mission of the entire nation. The General Secretary hopes to continue receiving support and valuable contributions from former leaders, intellectuals, scientists and artists - those who have always been a source of inspiration, motivation and great spiritual strength on the path of development of the country.
