General Secretary To Lam attends the 18th Hanoi Party Congress

This morning (October 15), at the National Convention Center, the 18th Congress of the Hanoi Party Committee, term 2025-2030, officially opened. At this important working session, the Congress elected the 18th Executive Committee of the City Party Committee.

Attending and directing the Congress were General Secretary To Lam, along with President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man , and many leaders and former leaders of the Party and State.

The morning session took place with the following main contents: opening speech, report on verification of delegate qualifications, political report of the Executive Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee, term XVII, and review report of the Executive Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

In the afternoon of the same day, the Congress discussed and approved the Personnel Plan for the 18th Executive Committee, voted on the number of Executive Committee members, and conducted the election of the 18th Hanoi Party Committee Executive Committee. Accordingly, the new Executive Committee consists of 75 comrades (4 comrades more than the previous term), the Standing Committee consists of 17 comrades, and the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee consists of 5 comrades. The entire personnel plan was built closely following Directive 45 of the Politburo and the regulations and instructions of the Central Committee.

Previously, at the preparatory session on October 15, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai emphasized that personnel work is the key content, deciding the quality of leadership and direction of the entire Party Committee in the new term. "Each delegate needs to uphold the sense of responsibility, carefully study the structure, quantity, conditions, and standards of Executive Committee members to select comrades with good moral qualities, who dare to think, dare to do, innovate, and be creative," the Secretary of the Party Committee said.

Reporting at the Congress, Mr. Ha Minh Hai - Head of the Hanoi Party Committee's Organization Committee, said that personnel work has been prepared in accordance with Party regulations, ensuring objectivity, democracy, publicity and transparency. The personnel introduction plan has been built with a reasonable structure between departments, branches and localities; focusing on the rate of innovation of Party committees, female cadres, and science and technology cadres.

With the spirit of solidarity, innovation and responsibility, the 18th Hanoi Party Congress hopes to select a leadership team with courage and intelligence, capable of bringing the capital into a new development stage, successfully implementing the goals and tasks of the 2025-2030 term.
