According to initial information, Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung resigned as Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee due to health reasons.

On the afternoon of November 28, the Hanoi Party Committee held a conference to announce the Politburo 's decision on personnel work.

Hanoi Party Secretary Nguyen Duy Ngoc attended the decision announcement ceremony.

At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Quang Duong, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee, read the Politburo 's decision on personnel work.

Accordingly, the Politburo decided to allow Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee to resign from his position as Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term and Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term at his personal request, due to health reasons.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung was appointed to the position of Deputy Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee.

The new Deputy Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee, Nguyen Duc Trung, was born in 1974 and is from Thanh Hoa province. His professional qualifications include a Master's degree in Political Economy, a Bachelor's degree in Economics, a Bachelor's degree in English, and a Senior Degree in Political Theory.

Previously, on the afternoon of November 13, the 16th Hanoi People's Council dismissed and elected the position of Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee according to its authority. Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung was introduced by the Politburo and the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee to be elected by the People's Council to hold the position of Chairman of the City People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.

The Hanoi People's Council then conducted a secret ballot to elect Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung as Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee.

With the majority of delegates present in agreement, Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung was officially elected by the People's Council to hold the position of Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.
