Boat sinks near Binh Tien beach, 1 dead, 2 missing

Currently, Khanh Hoa province's authorities are concentrating all their resources and manpower to search for two fishermen missing after their boat sank in Binh Tien sea.

At 5:30 a.m. on November 28, the Binh Tien Working Group, Vinh Hai Border Guard Station under the Khanh Hoa Border Guard received a report of a serious shipwreck that occurred in the Binh Tien sea area, Cong Hai commune (Khanh Hoa), about 300 meters from shore. Immediately after receiving the information, the unit urgently organized verification and deployed rescue forces.

According to initial verification results, at about 7:30 p.m. on November 27, fishing boat NT 90329TS, captained by Mr. Nguyen Van Trung, born in 1976, residing in Residential Group 28, Dong Hai Ward, and 4 fishermen working with trawl nets, were on their way to shore to avoid the storm.

While moving to the Binh Tien sea area, Cong Hai commune, the boat suddenly encountered big waves and strong winds, and sank about 300 meters from shore. Immediately after the incident, 2 fishermen swam to shore safely, but 3 fishermen went missing.

Upon receiving the information, Vinh Hai Border Guard Station dispatched a high-speed canoe and 6 officers and soldiers to the scene; at the same time, closely coordinated with Binh Ba Border Guard Station, related forces and mobilized fishing boats operating near the area to participate in the search. By 2:00 p.m. this afternoon (November 28), the victim Nguyen Thach Trung, born in 1992, residing in Residential Group 6, Dong Hai Ward, was found.

Currently, the forces are still expanding the search area around the sunken ship, at the same time scanning the surrounding sea area, deploying specialized measures to increase the possibility of detecting missing victims. Rescue work is being maintained continuously in the complicated weather conditions at sea. The functional forces continue to concentrate maximum means and human resources, making efforts to search for the 2 fishermen with a spirit of urgency and determination, not leaving out the suspected area.
