* Phase 2021 - 2025, 32 new clubs will be established
On the morning of May 15, 2025, the Provincial Association of the Elderly (NCT) held a ceremony to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly (May 10) and a conference to summarize the Project to replicate the model of the "Intergenerational Self-Help Club" for the period 2021 - 2025 in the province, according to the Decision of the Prime Minister .
Mr. Bui Minh Hai - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee awarded Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee Chairman to outstanding collectives and individuals.
According to statistics, Bac Lieu province currently has 110,583 elderly people, accounting for 10.4% of the total population of the province. Of these, there are 103,165 members of the Elderly Association, accounting for 93% of the total number of elderly people in the province.
Implementing Plan 72 of the Provincial People's Committee on implementing the Project to replicate the Club model, from 2021 - 2025, the whole province has actively mobilized and established 32 "Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs". These clubs were deployed in 32 hamlets and quarters in 32 communes, wards and towns, achieving more than 91% of the set target.
In the recent period, the clubs have played an active role in mobilizing resources in the community. The total mobilized funds amounted to VND 1,468,000,000. From this fund, the clubs have disbursed loans to 293 members to develop production and business with a total loan amount of VND 1,465,000,000. The common loan amount ranges from VND 5 - 10 million/member, with a preferential interest rate of no more than 1%/month.
The “Intergenerational Self-Help” Club model has affirmed its important role as an effective bridge between the Party committee, local government and the elderly. The activities of the clubs contribute to enhancing understanding, solidarity and mutual support among members, strengthening the neighborhood relationship. At the same time, the model also promotes patriotic emulation movements in the community and raises people’s awareness of the Party’s policies and the State’s laws.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 8 groups and 12 individuals who have been outstanding in implementing the "Intergenerational Self-Help" Club model.
