Today (November 24), President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev and his wife Desislava Radeva paid an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong from November 24 to 28.

President Rumen Radev was born on June 18, 1963 in Dimitrov Grad, Bulgaria. From 2000 to 2005 he was Chief of Staff, 3rd Air Base in Graf Ignatievo. From 2005 to 2009 he was Commander, 3rd Air Base in Graf Ignatievo. From 2009 to 2014 he was Deputy Commander, Bulgarian Air Force. From 2014 to 2017 he was Commander, Bulgarian Air Force. In 2016 he was nominated by the Bulgarian Socialist Party as a candidate for President and won. He has been the 5th President of Bulgaria since January 2017.
President Rumen Radev is a Doctor of Military Science.
This is the first visit in 11 years by the President of Bulgaria and also the first visit to Vietnam by Mr. Rumen Radev as President. Vietnam and Bulgaria have a traditional friendship, multifaceted cooperation and are making many important developments. The visit takes place at a very meaningful time, right before Vietnam and Bulgaria prepare to enter 2025 - the year of celebrating the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations. As President, Mr. Rumen Radev has made many contributions to the relationship between the two countries.
