According to the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will pay an official visit to Vietnam from June 11 to 13.

The visit was made at the invitation ofPresident Vo Van Thuong.

Kazakhstan is a Central Asian country, bordering the countries: Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan. Kazakhstan follows the presidential republic system. The President of Kazakhstan is directly elected by universal suffrage from 18 years of age and older, for a term of 5 years.

As the largest Central Asian country in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Kazakhstan pursues a diversified and balanced foreign policy. Kazakhstan advocates strengthening relations with major countries such as Russia, the United States, China, Europe, Japan, and South Korea; actively cooperating in the United Nations and international organizations; enhancing regional and world integration...

Among them, Kazakhstan considers Russia its most important strategic ally, currently ranking first among countries exporting to Kazakhstan and fourth in importing its products.

Vietnam and Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations on June 29, 1992.

The relationship between the two countries is a good traditional friendship. The two countries closely coordinate and support each other at the United Nations and other international forums.

Kazakhstan affirmed that Vietnam is a priority partner in the region and considers promoting close cooperation with Vietnam an important element in Kazakhstan's foreign policy towards the Asia-Pacific region.

Several large Kazakh enterprises are investing in Vietnam's construction and real estate sectors.

Kazakhstan wishes to cooperate and invest with Vietnam in the fields of high-tech clean agriculture and renewable energy.

Economic and trade cooperation still has much room for development, especially in the fields of agriculture, tourism, clean energy, and high technology. Investment cooperation between the two countries still has much potential.

The two sides agreed to make more effective use of the opportunities of the Free Trade Agreement signed between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), of which Kazakhstan is a member (along with Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia); and to study the possibility of establishing joint production ventures in potential fields such as textiles and food processing, creating favorable conditions for goods to access each other's markets.

In October 2022, Vietjet Air launched the first direct flight connecting the coastal city of Nha Trang to the city of Almaty (Kazakhstan).
