The information was given by President Donald Trump at a cabinet meeting yesterday, right after FIFA announced the opening of a new representative office at Trump Tower in New York.
This year's FIFA Club World Cup, with the gathering of many of the world's top clubs, is considered a "dress rehearsal" for the 2026 World Cup, a record-breaking tournament with 48 teams, co-hosted by the US, Canada and Mexico.
MetLife Stadium, which will host the FIFA Club World Cup final this weekend, will also host next year's World Cup final. "I'll be there to watch the game," President Trump told reporters.
Trump's confirmation of his attendance at the FIFA Club World Cup final comes just a day after FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced the opening of a representative office at Trump Tower in New York. The FIFA Club World Cup trophy will also be on display there until the final.

Previously, in 2024, FIFA opened its first US office in Miami, Florida, where the legal department and personnel related to the organization of the FIFA Club World Cup and the 2026 World Cup are located. Some staff from the headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland have been transferred to the US to support operations there.
“We have received great support from the US government and President Trump for the organization of the FIFA Club World Cup this year and the World Cup next year,” said Mr. Infantino.
In his second term, President Trump has continued to have a strong presence at major sporting events. However, the Trump administration’s hardline immigration policies, especially the travel ban on 12 countries, are raising concerns ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
However, President Infantino remained optimistic, affirming that the United States will "welcome the world with open arms" at the biggest football event on the planet.
