According to the announcement from ASEAN NCAP, the Toyota Yaris Cross version tested is the one assembled in Indonesia, similar to the version sold in Vietnam. The car achieved 83.02% of the total evaluation score, specifically including:
- Adult Occupant Protection (AOP): 29.28/32 points
- Child Passenger Protection (COP): 44.17/51 points
- Safety support: 17.74/21 points
- Motorcyclist protection: 9.76/16 points

The car model was tested according to ASEAN NCAP standards for the period 2021 - 2025, the last year before new safety regulations take effect from next year.
With this result, Yaris Cross has the same score as competitors in the same segment such as Nissan Kicks or Mitsubishi Xforce - models known for their more sturdy chassis.
The Yaris Cross in Vietnam has a series of modern safety equipment that contributes to the positive test results. Both versions have 6 airbags, electronic balance system, and Toyota Safety Sense (ADAS) driver assistance technology package.

The ADAS package includes advanced features like automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and automatic adaptive headlights.
The fact that both the gasoline and hybrid versions are equipped with ADAS shows that Toyota sets high safety goals in the B-class SUV segment, where more and more models compete fiercely in both technology and user peace of mind.
The version tested by ASEAN NCAP uses a 1.5L gasoline engine, providing 105 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque, combined with a CVT gearbox. This is also the configuration of the Yaris Cross gasoline version currently sold in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, the hybrid version has a 1.5L gasoline engine (90 horsepower, 121 Nm) with an electric motor for 79 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. Despite the difference in powertrain, the two versions still retain almost identical safety equipment.
In Vietnam, there has been a lot of controversy about the Yaris Cross's durability compared to other models in the same segment. Some users think that the car's body is thin, not providing a sense of safety compared to competitors such as the Mitsubishi Xforce.
However, the 5-star ASEAN NCAP test results have refuted this. Despite the body design that is biased towards optimizing weight and saving fuel, the Yaris Cross still ensures full protection criteria for users in collision tests.
