On the morning of April 18, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council approved the investment policy decision to build the Binh Tien bridge and road project, from Pham Van Chi Street to Nguyen Van Linh Street.
Binh Tien Bridge and Road project passes through District 6, District 8, Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, with a total investment of 6,285 billion VND from the Ho Chi Minh City budget.
Of which, compensation, support and resettlement costs are VND2,878 billion; construction and equipment costs are VND2,264 billion; contingency costs are VND916 billion; project management, consulting and other costs are about VND226 billion.
The project is expected to be implemented from 2025 to 2028. Construction is expected to start in the first quarter of 2026 and be completed in the third quarter of 2027.

The project investment objective is to form a new radial traffic axis (urban main axis), connecting the city center with the new urban area of South Saigon, the urban area - Hiep Phuoc port and connecting with the belt roads 2, 3 and 4.
This will meet the inter-regional traffic needs of the southern gateway area of the city, and gradually complete the traffic infrastructure system according to the planning of Ho Chi Minh City for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision after 2050.
The project starts at the intersection of Binh Tien Street and the existing Pham Van Chi Street in District 6, and ends at the intersection with Nguyen Van Linh Street in Binh Chanh District. The scale of the main urban road is about 3.66 km long and has a cross-section of 4-6 lanes, with a cross-section width of 30-40m.
In order to speed up progress and soon carry out compensation and site clearance, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee proposed dividing the project into two component projects.
Specifically, component project 1 includes compensation, support, resettlement and relocation of technical infrastructure, with a total estimated investment of about 3,300 billion VND. Component project 2 is the main construction and installation part, with a total investment of about 2,900 billion VND.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the construction of Binh Tien bridge and road aims to strengthen regional connectivity, creating smooth traffic between economic centers, industrial centers, cultural centers with airports and seaports.
Currently, the traffic system connecting the city center (districts 1, 5, 6) with the southern area (districts 7, 8, Nha Be district, Binh Chanh district) mainly through Nguyen Huu Tho street (Kenh Te bridge); Duong Ba Trac street (Nguyen Van Cu bridge, Chu Y bridge); Pham Hung street (Nguyen Tri Phuong bridge) and National Highway 50 (Nhi Thien Duong bridge).
The above routes and bridges are currently overloaded and often congested, especially during rush hours. In the near future, after the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway is put into operation, it is forecasted that the traffic demand in the area will increase very high (including National Highway 50), causing further pressure on the regional traffic infrastructure system. Thus, a new traffic direction is needed to meet the traffic demand in the near future.
Binh Tien Bridge and Road is located on an important traffic route from the center of Ho Chi Minh City in District 5 and 6, passing through District 8 and Binh Chanh District, connecting directly with Nguyen Van Linh Street (Ring Road 2) and connecting Ring Road 3 (Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway) via National Highway 50. This route has a very high traffic demand.
Therefore, the early investment in the construction of Binh Tien bridge and road (from Pham Van Chi street to Nguyen Van Linh street) is extremely necessary and urgent, in order to meet the traffic needs of people in the area, contributing to creating momentum for socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City.
It is known that the Binh Tien bridge and road project is one of the five key projects to upgrade and expand existing roads under the BOT form according to Resolution 98. After that, the project was proposed by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport and Public Works to be transferred to public investment.
