The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has just announced the quality scores of 120 hospitals, of which 41 hospitals achieved a good quality level or higher.
The total number of units assessed for quality is 120 hospitals, including 51 public hospitals, 63 non-public hospitals, 4 medical centers with beds, and 2 hospitals in the sector (Ho Chi Minh City Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital and Post Office General Hospital).

There are 2 hospitals that did not participate in the assessment: Gia Dinh General Hospital (due to less than 12 months of operation) and Transport Hospital (due to the Department of Health, Ministry of Transport, assessing hospital quality in 2023).
The average score in 2023 is 3.71 points, an increase of 1.1% compared to 2022 (3.67 points). In which, the average quality score of the city hospital block is 4.2 points, an increase of 2.7% compared to 2022 (4.09 points);
The average quality score for district hospitals, health centers with inpatient beds is 3.56 points, an increase of 1.1% compared to 2022 (3.52 points); The average quality score for the private sector is 3.48 points, a slight decrease compared to 2022 (3.49 points).
41/120 (34.2%) hospitals have a quality score of 4.0 or higher, 71/120 (59.2%) hospitals have a quality score of 3.0 - 4.0, and the remaining 8/120 (6.7%) hospitals have a score of 2.0 - 3.0.
The quality of hospitals in the city has improved in all areas from 2022 to 2023. In 2023, the criteria group in the Patient-oriented field achieved the highest average score (4.25/5), an increase of 2.1% compared to 2022.
Next is the group of criteria in the field of Hospital Human Resource Development with an average score of 3.94/5, an increase of 3.1% compared to 2022 (3.82).
The criteria group in the field of Quality Improvement Activities achieved an average score of 3.71/5, an increase of 6.3% compared to 2022 (3.49). The criteria group in the field of specific specialties (Obstetrics, Pediatrics) achieved 3.69/5, an increase of 3.1% compared to 2022 (3.58). The criteria group in the field of Professional Activities achieved the lowest average score (3.65/5), an increase of 3.7% compared to 2022 (3.52).
In general, the results of hospital quality inspection and assessment in 2023 have many improvements. There are 12 hospitals with an average score of over 4.5 (on a scale of 5.0), an increase of 38% compared to 2022, 29 hospitals with an average score of 4 - 4.5; and 08 hospitals with an average score of below 3, an 11% decrease compared to 2022.
The private hospital group's average score increased by 1.1% compared to 2022, the city hospital group increased by 2.4% compared to 2022, and the district hospital group increased by 0.9% compared to 2022.
