On November 12, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc discussed cooperation opportunities with the new French Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Etienne Ranaivoson.
At the reception, Mr. Etienne Ranaivoson expressed his impression of the dynamic development of Ho Chi Minh City.
From a shared history, Vietnam-France relations have developed strongly, marked by the elevation of relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2024 and high-level visits this year.
The French diplomat said his mission in his new position is to ensure that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will be implemented effectively with specific projects that bring benefits to both sides.
Currently, France is interested in the development goals of Ho Chi Minh City in many fields from economy to culture.

According to Mr. Etienne Ranaivoson, France has strengths in innovation and a strong business community operating in the city. Regarding the city's goal of becoming an international financial center, France has many financial institutions and banks operating here and France is also willing to support the city with its experience in this field.
In addition, France is having and will have many cultural activities in Vietnam as well as Ho Chi Minh City.

Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc said the city's development focus is economy, technology and innovation.
Ho Chi Minh City is in the "sprint" stage of preparing to operate the International Financial Center (IFC) in December 2025. Currently, many investment funds are very interested in IFC and Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc hopes that the French Consul General will help connect interested French investment funds.
In addition, the development of the marine economy in Ba Ria - Vung Tau also has great potential for France, which has strengths in logistics and seaports. Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc shared that Ho Chi Minh City plans to develop a railway line from Binh Duong, Dong Nai to Cai Mep port in the next 5 years. In which, Cai Mep port will play a very important role for the city, aiming to compete with Singapore's transit port.
