According to Variety , the deal aims to turn stories that originated on mobile screens into global animated productions. The two companies plan to co-produce films based on 10 of Webtoon's most popular webcomic series.
A chance to take webcomics further
According to a press release published by Webtoon Entertainment on November 12, this collaboration is "a significant expansion in Webtoon Entertainment's animation production process."
Projects will be selected from Webtoon's English and Korean platforms, with development support from Webtoon Productions in the US and intellectual property teams in Japan.

According to Yongsoo Kim, Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Global Division of Webtoon Entertainment, the authors of the original webcomic still retain the intellectual property rights and will receive a share of the revenue from the animation projects according to the agreement with the company.
“Our creators are building comic book franchises that Gen Z audiences love, and partnering with Warner Bros. Animation gives us the opportunity to take those stories further with one of the most respected names in animation,” said Kim.
“The combination of Warner Bros. Animation’s world-class artistry and Webtoon’s vibrant storytelling is an incredible opportunity to create something truly special,” said Sam Register, President of Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, on behalf of Warner Bros. Animation.
Webtoon's Adaptation Ambitions
Mr. Sinbae Kim, Chief Growth Officer of LINE Digital Frontier, who leads Webtoon's global animation division and participated in signing the agreement with Warner Bros. Animation, affirmed:
"From hits like True Beauty , Clevatess and Tower of God to many more adaptations in the works, we're proving that great stories can start on a phone screen and grow into a global entertainment phenomenon."
Webtoon is currently the pioneer in the webcomic field, with over 155 million monthly active users. Webtoon's works have been adapted and released on many major platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Crunchyroll. The company also currently partners with many famous brands such as Discord, HYBE and DC Comics.

In August, Webtoon Entertainment also formed a partnership with the Walt Disney Company to adapt movies like Avengers , Star Wars , and Spider-Man into online comics.
Warner Bros. Animation is one of the world's leading animation producers, owning a huge library of characters from DC, Looney Tunes, Hanna-Barbera and MGM. In 2025, WBA launched two outstanding projects including The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim and The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie .
The initial lineup of adaptations includes four titles: The Stellar Swordmaster (Hong Dae Ui, Juno, Q10), Hardcore Leveling Warrior (Sehoon Kim), Down to Earth (Pookie Senpai), and Elf & Warrior (AC Stuart, Victor Rosas II). More adaptations will be announced soon.
