In October 2025, the Department of Tourism continued to implement online reporting to improve the form of business management, while serving the statistical work and updating the national tourism database. 773 accounts were granted to log in to online statistical reporting on the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism's tourism statistical database electronic information portal.
In addition, the Department of Tourism has also conducted surveys and introduced businesses and establishments participating in the medical tourism program; linked medical tourism development between Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta and Southeast regions. In reality, community tourism products and services, ecological tourism, cultural-historical tourism in Cu Chi, Can Gio, Hoc Mon, Binh Chanh areas have maintained a stable number of visitors with types of farm visits, craft villages, and school experiences. Urban tourism and services in central wards focus on landscape improvement, green spaces, developing check-in points, coffee services, and night cuisine, meeting the needs of domestic and international visitors. Many units have increased the use of digital platforms (Visithcmc.vn, ward and commune fanpages) to promote activities. The network of grassroots tourism destinations is increasingly diverse, attracting people and weekend tourists. The awareness of ward and commune authorities on local tourism development has been raised, with coordination with businesses and tourism business households.
Tourism activities are organized safely, without major incidents. However, there are still some limitations such as communication activities and updating tourism information on the websites of wards/communes are not synchronized, the content is limited. There is a lack of connection between local authorities and tourism businesses to form typical products according to the locality. The Department of Tourism will strengthen the direction of wards, communes, and special zones to standardize the "Local Tourism" section on the electronic information portal, regularly update events, destinations, and products. Encourage each locality to build at least one typical tourism product associated with the cultural-ecological-culinary strengths of the locality. Strengthen the connection between wards, communes and businesses in promotional activities, serving customers, towards sustainable tourism development at the grassroots level.
As of October 2025, Ho Chi Minh City has 39 recognized tourist areas and spots, including 33 tourist spots in the old Ho Chi Minh City; 1 national tourist area, 1 provincial tourist area, 3 tourist spots in the old Ba Ria - Vung Tau area, and 1 tourist spot in the Binh Duong area. Human resource training and development activities are carried out synchronously, practically and towards standardizing vocational skills.
According to Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, from now until the end of the year, the unit will focus on 4 major plans including: Promoting Ho Chi Minh City tourism within the framework of the Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Days event; the 3rd Ho Chi Minh City River Festival in 2025; the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week in 2025, scheduled to take place from December 5, 2025 and the 8th Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon in 2025. Organize surveys, investigations, and assessments of tourism resources to reposition products and develop new product development orientations. Review and propose amendments to regulations on the conditions for the formation and operation of inland waterway terminals, passenger ports, etc. to promote businesses to invest and effectively exploit waterway tourism.
