Ho Chi Minh City raises social pension allowance to 650,000 VND/month

On the afternoon of August 28, at the 3rd session of the 10th term People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City presented a report on social pension policy, proposing a subsidy level of VND 650,000/month for citizens aged 75 and over (or aged 70 to under 75 in poor or near-poor households) who do not receive monthly pensions or social insurance benefits.

It is expected that the policy will use state budget resources, with a total cost of about 1,522 billion VND/year.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the policy aims to enhance social security, create a premise for economic and political stability, strengthen people's trust, and ensure social justice in development.

Along with that, the City People's Committee also submitted to the City People's Council to issue a resolution on the allowance regime for area and hamlet team leaders and labor subsidies for standing militia, following the model previously applied by Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, and at the same time proposed to abolish the entire Resolution 03/2022/NQ-HDND of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council and Resolution 19/2020/NQ-HDND of the Binh Duong Provincial People's Council (before the arrangement).
