There are 5 beauty queens in one week...
In just the last week of June, audiences received news of the finals of 5 domestic beauty pageants and 3 international competitions featuring Vietnamese beauties. This is not including 4-5 other competitions that announced their launch or entered their peak rounds.
Notable examples include: on the evening of June 21st, Nguyen Hoang Phuong Linh (26 years old, Ho Chi Minh City) was crowned Miss Cosmo Vietnam 2025. On the night of June 27th, after a three-year hiatus, the 19th Miss Vietnam pageant crowned Ha Truc Linh (21 years old, from Dak Lak ) as its winner.
On June 28th, the Miss Earth Vietnam 2025 pageant crowned Ngo Thi Tram Anh (19 years old, Hai Phong City) as its winner. That same evening, Nguyen Hoai Phuong Anh (24 years old, Ho Chi Minh City) became the new Miss Beach Vietnam Global 2025. Just a few days later, on the evening of June 30th, the Mrs Grand Vietnam 2025 final announced Nguyen Thi Thua (36 years old, Hanoi City) as the winner. Along with the five winners, the competitions also announced nearly 15 runners-up and numerous other titles and awards.

Also in June, the Miss Businesswoman Supranational 2025 final was held in Binh Thuan, with Dinh Thi Huong Giang from Ho Chi Minh City winning the title. Prior to that, competitions such as Miss Vietnam National 2025, Miss International Transgender Vietnam 2025, and Miss Businesswoman Peace 2025 also crowned their winners and runners-up.
During this time, competitions such as Miss World Vietnam and Miss Grand Vietnam 2025 have launched, organizing promotional activities and recruitment across provinces and cities. The Miss World Vietnam final will take place in October, while Miss Grand Vietnam 2025 is scheduled for August. In mid-June, the Miss National Vietnam 2025 competition was announced for the first time, with the final round to take place at the end of August.
On an international level, notable achievements include the finals of competitions such as Miss World 2025, Miss and Mr. Supranational 2025, Miss and Mr. Supermodel World 2025… The Miss Cosmo 2025 competition – a world beauty pageant hosted by Vietnam – is currently in the application phase for contestants from countries and territories worldwide.
Beauty isn't everything.
The proliferation of beauty pageants, viewed positively, reflects the development of the community and the entertainment industry, providing opportunities for young men and women to express themselves and inspire others. In fact, many domestic competitions are well-organized, and some international competitions are organized professionally by Vietnamese people. A prime example is Miss Cosmo – an international beauty pageant founded and organized by Unimedia in Vietnam since 2024. It has been praised by the public and international media for its professional organization and its contribution to promoting the image of Ho Chi Minh City and other major tourist cities in Vietnam.
Several organizations specializing in beauty pageants domestically have also built an ecosystem with numerous training programs, reality TV shows, and large-scale promotional campaigns, making this performing arts industry increasingly professional.
Along with beauty pageants, many beauty queens not only meet beauty standards but also bring positive values. For example, Miss Vietnam 2022 Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy was crowned Miss International 2024 and received a series of prestigious awards: Promising Young Vietnamese Face of 2024, Asia Humanitarian Influencer Award 2025, Beauty of the Year…
Miss Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc recently moderated a youth dialogue session with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, focusing on green transformation and digital transformation, at Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giám; Miss Luong Thuy Linh participated in a conference to provide feedback on the project "Youth participation in preserving and promoting the national cultural identity of Vietnam in the period 2024 - 2029"…

However, it's undeniable that the sheer number of beauty pageants and the abundance of new Misses and Runners-up are somewhat devaluing these titles. The public has even become "overwhelmed" with beauty pageants, bored, and less interested in them. This is specifically reflected in the declining number of viewers for beauty contests; some grandly organized competitions have far fewer concurrent viewers than a newly released music video.
In addition, the controversies surrounding recent beauty pageants have further bored audiences: the English Q&A responses of the Miss Earth 2025 contestants were criticized as being memorized; the controversy surrounding the tattoos of the new Miss Universe Vietnam; a Miss Vietnam contestant causing controversy by posting a video of herself dancing in front of the Thai Hoa Palace in the Hue Imperial Citadel; and scandals involving the private lives of contestants…
Even beauty queens face difficulties establishing themselves after winning the crown at a time when so many others are doing so. They almost lack space to shine and opportunities to contribute to the community. Furthermore, for the first time in the entertainment industry, newly crowned beauty queens are experiencing a lack of show appearances and are forced to participate in higher-level competitions.
The recent series of unsuccessful Vietnamese beauty queens competing in international pageants reflects a reality: beauty contests are gradually changing their evaluation methods. Physical beauty accounts for only a small part of the selection criteria; the important factor remains demonstrating character and influence. This is also a common weakness of current Vietnamese beauty queens and runners-up, as many who have achieved fame are overshadowed by scandals.
Beauty titles now represent not only outward appearance but also positive social values, especially the contributions of the beauty queen after receiving the crown. Without change, beauty pageants in Vietnam will soon be forgotten by domestic audiences, and a performing arts industry with great potential will struggle to develop to its full potential.
