Admissions page for primary school is overloaded, Ho Chi Minh City adds backup address

On the morning of May 15, the online primary school admission system of Ho Chi Minh City officially opened its portal. This is the first day for parents to register for admission to grade 1 and grade 6 for the 2025-2026 school year.

However, some parents reported to Tuoi Tre Online that they could not log in to the system. Others said they could log in but failed to send registration information.

Two registration addresses

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , an official from the Ho Chi Minh City Departmentof Education and Training said: "The online registration for primary school admissions was interrupted due to a large number of parents logging in at the same time on the morning of May 15. In addition, some parents kept their login sessions extended to review admission information.

If the online registration for primary school admission is interrupted, parents can use the backup address https://tuyensinhdaucap2025.hcm.edu.vn/. These two addresses access the same system, so parents can rest assured to use any convenient address.

It is known that the admission of the first grade for the 2025-2026 school year in Ho Chi Minh City has been agreed by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training to be conducted online at: https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn. Units will use current residence information (verified via VNeID) in the education and training sector database as the main criterion for admission to the first grade classes.

This year, the department has also improved the admission process for primary schools by requiring localities to announce the admission conditions for grades 1 and 6 for two groups. Group 1 is students who actually reside in the area, and group 2 is students who do not reside in the area (previously known as out-of-area students).

Early childhood education admissions timelines

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said: Parents need to access the city's primary school admissions page to choose the admission area and admission target (target 1 or target 2). The selection period is from May 15 to 5:00 p.m. on May 19, 2025.

In which subject 1 is students whose current residence is in the area and within the prescribed age; subject 2 is students who do not reside in the area but are in special cases (districts will announce priority criteria for subject 2).

In case of category 2, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training notes that parents need to carefully study the city and local enrollment plans; at the same time, prepare sufficient evidence to update the online system.

From May 20 to 5:00 p.m. on May 23: District and County Departments of Education and Training will synchronize enrollment data.

From May 24 to 5:00 p.m. on May 29: Parents register on the city's primary school admissions portal.

This is the registration time for schools implementing special programs (including: advanced high-quality programs integrating regionally and internationally; integrated English programs according to project 5695; French enhancement programs; Nam Saigon Primary, Secondary, and High Schools (District 7); Luong The Vinh High School (District 1); and other educational institutions with special models in the city's education system).

Students not enrolled in schools with special programs will be placed in schools within their registered area during the period from May 15 to 19.
