The paintings were completed by Tran Van Can in the early stages of his career and are rare, so many collectors want to own them.
Art researcher Ngo Kim Khoi determined that the painting has a clear origin, with a label on the back saying 1937 Paris International Exhibition, and is a rare work by Tran Van Can on the market.
Unlike the famous painters Nguyen Gia Tri, To Ngoc Van, Nguyen Tuong Lan, belonging to the Tri - Van - Lan - Can quartet, there is very little information about the auction of his works at international auctions.
Also at Aguttes' auction, the work Dans la montagne (In the mountains) by artist Mai Trung Thu had the second highest sale price.
The artist painted the painting in 1959, using ink and color on silk. The painting depicts one of the author's favorite themes, depicting the affection between generations of a family.
Painter Tran Van Can (1910-1994) was from Tu Son, Bac Ninh but was born in Kien An, Hai Phong. He graduated as valedictorian of the seventh class (1931-1936) of the Indochina College of Fine Arts. The painter was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts in 1996, received the first-class Independence Medal and many professional awards.
