Earlier, at around 5:30 p.m., local people discovered a fire in a pine forest in Tan Chau commune that quickly spread. Upon receiving the information, local authorities mobilized local forces, people and vehicles to urgently deploy forest fire fighting work.

However, by 9 p.m. the same day, the participating forces had grown to over 400 people with the reinforcement of the police force, the Dien Chau Forest Ranger Department and specialized firefighting equipment, but the forest fire was still not controlled and extinguished. Initial estimates indicate that many hectares of forest were damaged.
Mr. Phan Van Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Chau Commune, Nghe An Province, added that the area where the fire broke out was a pine forest with many years of history, rugged terrain, and strong southwest winds at level 3 to level 4, making firefighting difficult. All forces are still trying their best but have not been able to control the spreading fire.

Local authorities have coordinated with forces to deploy teams to approach the scene, collect vegetation, and cut firebreaks with the determination to control the fire to quickly extinguish it and minimize forest damage caused by the fire spreading widely.
By around 3am on August 4, the fire was extinguished. Local authorities are currently working with relevant agencies to assess the damage and investigate the cause of the fire.
Tan Chau commune has a forest area of over 2,300 hectares, the largest among the communes in Dien Chau district (old). Most of the forest area in the area is pine forest, many of which are located near residential areas, increasing the risk of forest fires, especially during the peak of the hot season.
