Over 400 people tried to put out the forest fire at night in Nghe An

Regarding the forest fire that broke out in Tan Chau commune, Nghe An province last night, on the morning of August 4, the leader of Tan Chau commune said that the authorities and people had completely extinguished the fire.

Before that, at about 5:30 p.m., local people discovered a fire in the pine forest in Tan Chau commune and it quickly spread. Immediately upon receiving the information, local authorities mobilized local forces, people and vehicles to urgently deploy forest fire fighting work.

However, by 9 p.m. the same day, the participating forces had grown to over 400 people with the reinforcement of the police force, the Dien Chau Forest Ranger Department and specialized firefighting equipment, but the forest fire was still not controlled and extinguished. Initial estimates have shown that many hectares of forest have been damaged.

Mr. Phan Van Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Chau Commune, Nghe An Province, added that the area where the fire broke out was a pine forest many years old, the terrain was difficult, the southwest wind was blowing strongly at level 3 to level 4, so the fire fighting work was facing many difficulties. All forces were still trying very hard but could not control the spreading fire.

Local authorities have coordinated with forces to deploy teams to approach the scene, collect vegetation, and cut firebreaks with the determination to control the fire to quickly extinguish it and minimize forest damage due to the fire spreading widely.

By around 3am on August 4, the fire was extinguished. Local authorities are currently coordinating with relevant agencies to assess the damage and investigate the cause of the fire.

Tan Chau commune has a forest area of ​​over 2,300 hectares, the largest among the communes in Dien Chau district (old). Most of the forest area in the area is pine forest, many of which are located near residential areas, increasing the risk of forest fires, especially during the peak of the hot season.
